That's not how it works. It will always be the same spell. simply, you can vary the scale and firepower by pouring in more or less "mind". And obviously, as you rise in magic stats, you're able to pour more just fine, so the efficiency of a spell rise with it. But the spell itself doesn't change. The only one in the world who is able to change the way her spells work is Riveria.

Actually is a breather novel after the previous novel.

Each chapter of volume 8 focus on a different romance of danmachi. But all of them are logically linked and in chronological order (Ie, first one start a while after the end of volume 7, and this goes from there onward).
It is to be noted that volume 8 is the end of the second arc. I suppose that final scene of volume 8 will be the "main topic" of the next arc. Which may be linked this time with the topic we're getting in sword oratoria, if I were to try to guess.

Throwing him the knife at that time would have mean nothing. The knife uses Bell's stats to rise in level. If bell doesn't have the stat to fight a monster, the knife won't cut it either. To fight the silverback with that knife, there was a need to update his stats together with giving him the knife. As long as this wasn't done, there was no point in giving him the knife.
Bell didn't have his stats updated for more than 3 days due to Hestia not coming home and being with Hephaistius all this time. Those 3days+ spent in a dungeon are huge in Bell's case due to his fast leveling skill. That's why Hestia updated his stats with it so that he can fight.

Err... IIRC There is absolutely nothing in that chapter hinting toward Syr liking Allen in the past. Syr says Allen is an acquaintance that she saw regularly at her workplace in the past. And that's for a good reason, since he's Anya 's brother. That chapter is between Bell and Syr, not between Allen and Syr.

I meant it the other way around as in Allen potentially liking Syr and Syr obviously liking Bell. I should have used different symbols to indicate that.
