Yes, Origami had it bad. But the spirits had it worse. And Origami has a whole world of humans she could reach out to. The spirits only have Shidou.

Don' just continue with business as usual when there is even a slight chance that a way to actually render a spirit genuinely harmless is right under their nose!

No he has tried to be there for her and at the time she chose her revenge rather then him. It isn't untill after the events of volume 4 that she starts to turn away from that path.

Without saying anything, Origami was staring at Shidou in a very calm state.

It was quiet. But he could not feel that cold and mysterious air anymore; it was a mysterious gaze instead.

He knew that Origami had no authority to make left and right decisions for the AST.

But even so, the reason for him to specially take on the risk of leakage of information just so that he can talk to Origami about this matter—it is because he just had to do it.

Of course, the biggest reason was to save Yoshino, but that was not the only reason he had.

That was, he felt that he finally understood it by experiencing it directly.

first it has never been hinted that Kurumi became psycho from her deaths in fact it seems she is useing her deaths to drive Mana psycho. the AST had nothing to do with the Twins that was DEM. And I don't see how any of this refutes what I said She has an irrational hatred born from watching her home burn, having her parents murdered in front of her and then getting the hell beat out of her when she was 12 along with the added AST and DEM propaganda that Spirit = Evil. nor does it change she is not in command.

And yet thats what they do. They are Damage control pure and simple. They are like biteing ants painful and annoying enough that the Spirits go away. and its not like the ATS knows they are pulled there against their will since they don't talk to them. Origami only found out because Shidou told her.

There, wearing the same wiring suit as Origami, stood a woman in her mid-20s with her hand on her hip.

Captain Kusakabe Ryouko. The commanding officer of the AST that Origami belonged to.

"You did great driving off that Spirit by yourself. ...I gave a strict lecture to Tomonara and Kagaya. What were they thinking, retreating and leaving the Spirit to Origami alone."

"I didn't drive it away."

Origami replied, and Ryouko shrugged.

"Well, I've gotta report it like that to the top. If we don't show some results the budget's gonna drop."

"..."

"C'mon, don't make such a face. I'm praising you after all. In this situation where the ace's seat is still empty, you're making a great effort. Also, if you weren't there, the number of additional people who'd have died isn't just one or two."

Fuuuu, she exhaled her breath.

"But hey,"

Ryouko sharpened her gaze, grabbed Origami's head and turned it towards herself.

"You went a bit overboard. —Do you want to die so badly?"

"..."

With her sharp gaze still fixated on Origami, Ryouko continued.

"Do you really understand what kind of opponent you're fighting here? That's a monster for god's sake. A hurricane with intelligence. —Do you understand? Within your abilities, suppress the damage to the minimum, within your abilities, make it lost as early as possible. That is our job. Don't pointlessly expose yourself to danger."

"—That's wrong."

Origami replied while looking Ryouko straight in the eyes, and once again opened her lips slightly.

"To defeat the Spirits, that is the duty of the AST."

Ryouko frowned.

As the captain of the AST, she was supposed to have understood the name of the Anti Spirit Team much more so than Origami.

Because she understood, she stated.

—We can't manage to do any more than suppress the damage.

However, while acknowledging that, Origami repeated once again.

"—I will, defeat, the Spirits."

"..."

Ryouko let out a sigh, and removed her hands from Origami's head.

"...I wasn't planning on hearing what you personally think. Think what you want. —However, if it seems like you'll go against a command while on the battlefield, you'll be removed from the team."

Maybe it is because noone knows how that happened. Shidou made a big deal about it and Tohka had no clue. And the AST is under strict orders not to atack Touka because as far as the AST investagation has turned up she is not only human but one of the citizens that they have to protect. She also did ask Shidou about things, twice, once in Volume 2 and then in volume 5.

From that code-name, Origami twitched her eyebrows a little.

Not knowing the exact details of what she went through but the Spirit that held that code-name was now, the human girl— Yatogami Tohka, who was attending the same high school as Origami.

Of course, Origami having confirmed Tohka’s existence, had informed Ryouko about it.

But for some reason they couldn't detect a Spirit reading coming from her, thus the assault permission wasn't granted.

Asking for the impossible and then having her family register investigated, they were unable to find anything suspicious.

At the very least, at this time —although Origami was extremely dissatisfied— she was a Japanese citizen, an existence that was Origami's duty to protect.

i'll say this once and not say it again this is anime and using logic in anime is foolish because well its illogical. Yes Origami hates tohka but first because of the spirits but now because of the fact she's her rival. Origami has a messed up past we all know this if you thought a spirit killed your parents you'd hate them anyway. As for the organizations nobody truly understands the spirits so everybody acts wonky

Hmm, I think Shidou has referred to Origami as his friend. Also didn't she make him call her by her first name ? IIRC, it was in exchange for her getting off of him. And in volume 3, when he greeted her by using last name, she gave him a look and he immediately corrected himself and greeted her by her first name.

It did, it seems using a spirit powers would change the irises of the eyes of the user.. I believe there was a discussion about the eyes of the spirits at the past pages..


It seems the anime will get a season 2.... not to say it'll reach until Miku's arc...... having a complicated feeling of it.. more on my side wasn't really satisfied with the adaptation.....

As for why tohka is the only spirit that has to be around shidou its pretty simple its because of the lost puppy affect I mentioned earlier. Tohka believed everybody was trying to kill her and then somebody who wouldn't try to kill her appeared in fact he was kind to her. Once she found that she acted like a puppy simply wanting him to be that existence its the same reason that tohka went berserk when shidou died in the first episode and why she likely went black tohka because to tohka shidou is her entire world and living without him is impossible.

not quite i'd say miku gives her a run for that and the yamai twins are tasty too but that's my opinion. The downside to that very bonus is the reality that if she catches shidou kissing somebody else or if he does something against her she has power that makes gasai yuno look like a toddler. Keep in mind tohka said herself that without shidou she would be just like kurumi which doesn't bode well for shidou.
