That was even better than I expected. I instantly took a liking to the main character, it's rare to have a sympathetic character actually enjoy having powers and abuse them for his own gains. I love how he is total scum and yet still manages to be likable (the scenes with his sister helped).
The imouto is a little bundle of happiness. I hope she'll actually have some role to play. The girl Yu tried to make his girlfriend was also great, the "break-up" scene was really good, I didn't expect her to be this level-headed. I'm sure we'll see her again since she's voiced by Mai Nakahara. Anyway, this was a lot of fun. So much that I almost regret this will inevitably head into drama, as all Key works do. Hints of a sad story were already thrown around.

Yeah, while I couldn't like the MC early on I can't really blame him either. For the average person if you gain some kind of crazy power....you probably will find less than ethical immediate uses for it. Kind of impressive the level of effort he put into setting up his cheating if nothing else.
Plus did actually end up paying for it once he was found out. He had his fun but he paid for it in full. Getting knocked around pretty effectively . It is interesting how both amazing and utterly frustrating these abilities are. The ability to possess someone.....for 5 seconds and you collapse while it happens. Going invisible.....but only to a single person. Teleportation....but can't stop easily so can get hurt a lot. So far no real OP ability without downsides to them. Plus they are temporary...that sucks. It did balance out well once they introduced the little sister and gave the MC a bit of balance to his personality. I am curious about the elder brother angle and what is up with that. Makes you wonder about whether this ability vanishing as they get older is real. Maybe the person vanishes instead or something else. I mean sure having powers in general is strange, but that they only appear for a few years only to simply vanish is a bit odd.

The MC was pretty hilarious. Everyone knows if they got superpowers they'd completely abuse it. But eventually such behavior has to be punished which did make him more likable, though I was liking him before. Anyway, we'll see how this goes. We already have our sign of Maeda Drama.

Yeah, that was massively overboard and I don't think the show really called him out on that and tried to play it down a little. But I'm willing to accept that as an early OOC moment provided they don't do anything like that again.

That first episode was very surprising to me. It's not at all what I would expect of PAW or Key. Instead, it felt very KyoAni to me, particularly given the loud/hammy male lead. The comparisons to Amagi's Seiya certainly fit for me.
Unlike other viewers, I didn't find the male lead likeable at all prior to his younger sister's first appearance (she seems to bring out some sincerity in him). However, I did find him interesting. A popular hammy loner using his powers for purely selfish aims, but not necessarily outright villainous aims. That's not something I can recall coming across much in anime before. Even Code Geass and Death Note don't exactly apply since there were more complex ideological/philosophical motivations for Lelouch and Light than basic stuff like better marks in school, greater popularity, and winning over the school's most beautiful and popular girl. I enjoyed watching the MC get his comeuppance, but a big part of me kind of wishes that "popular loner using his powers for purely selfish aims" had been allowed to play out more than just this one episode. Instead, we now seem to be shifting to a "school for superpowered kids" which frankly is about as conventional and commonplace a series concept as you'll find in anime. I guess this school might be more "Suicide Squad" than "X-Men", and that makes it a bit different than most anime shows like this, but Key/PAW are really going to have to bring their A-Game to make this sort of scenario feel fresh and interesting. Still, I give Key and PAW kudos for going outside their comfort zones given what the MC is like. An engaging and thought-provoking first episode. Quote:
It was at this truck accident moment that I started to loath the male lead, and I continued to do so until he got the crap beat out of him. Given that he did get his comeuppance, and given that his scenes with his sister shows some potential for character growth, I'm willing to approach this truck accident scene the same way that Haak did.

ep 1
I went into this completely blind of any promotion and I enjoyed it a lot. Key shows usually aren't my thing, but everything from the characters to the setup sold me here. It helps this starts off way more coherent than Angel Beats ever did. The MC basically being huge con-artist is pretty uncommon role to see too. I'll have to see how the drama holds up be for I fully commit, but there is enough of interest to continue for the time being.

Light's Keikaku Doori + Lelouch's laugh
Somehow, this became the show that I was really looking forward to this season and the first episode didn't disappoint. I don't know how to describe it, but it's definitely "key"-ish.

Man, that was totally fun. I mean, this is the kind of superhero fiction that i really like, that can portray the protagonist as close to reality as possible. I mean, if i were to have a superpower, i'd definitely not using it to save or conquer the world, but to do some petty tricks by gaining advantage over others. I like his personality already. And the scene when the invisible girl and teleporter dude ganging up on him was hilarious i can't stop my tears.
