It is an additional task, as part of such a race, common on sports days. Each participant is given a piece of paper on which they find instructions for an "item" or "person" they have to collect from the audience and then continue with them or the item to the finish line. Shouta's task was to bring something "world class" along. Other instructions may include to look for someone with a moustache, or wearing glasses, a teacher or a friend, a pencil or an apple etc.
He brought one of the dragons, a world class choice, but I don't know how the teacher figured out what Shouta finds world class about his selected companion.

Didn't think the hands in the previous episode were outstanding enough to draw the conclusions you did, btw.

Considering the context, he's got to be indulgent. It's not like an actual gold medalist is likely to be in the audience. (And it's pretty obvious what most people find world class about Lucoa...)

I'm not sure of the exact rules but generally the idea is to find a person who matches the attribute on the paper (a different one for each contestant) and take that person to the teacher who acts as a judge (who then determines if it's a valid match or not). ... adding that the paper -and thus the task- is not assigned to a specific runner but picked at random from among the many papers laid-out randomly on a table. The fastest runner has first pick but doesn't know what they'll be getting into through their choice of folded paper....

Nice Kanna themed episode. She can really act matu re despite being still young.. she understood that Kobayashi is tired from working.. so she does not nag her anymore to come to the event. She also considered it more fun to compete in the power level of humans only in the event.

Episode 10:

Ooh, this episode takes place near the Christmas holidays. Nice.

We got most of the main characters gathered in one spot for a stage play. Poor Riko, I think Fafnir scared her. Shouta in a girly outfit looked priceless!

Kanna looked absolutely adorable in her outfit though when she was doing the matches thing.

I liked the stage play performance overall. Kanna and Fafnir has some talent in their acting! Very entertaining episode overall. I like that last part with Kobayashi and Toru too as a way to celebrate their Christmas.

10/10 episode, this Christmas episode was pure gold.

Can't choose one part because I liked as a whole, but Kanna was incredibly cute as always, the performance was amazing and showed how everyone's lifes improved a lot, especially Kobayashi's life.

Gotta admit - this episode definitely worked in the comedy department; I was chuckling throughout the entire thing.

I liked the overall feel of the interactions of the entire cast (except Kobayashi and Takiya, who were slaving away at work as usual) together in the brainstorming session, and the event itself was definitely ... original.
