I don't think Hachiman is giving himself enough credit if he thinks Hayato has nothing to do with him.

And even if Hachiman himself wouldn't be influenced by Hayato's career choice, doesn't he realize that he's connected connected to people who are? Hayato should know that Hachiman can always tell Yui, who can in turn tell Yumiko.

I first thougth so too, seeing as she's the kind of person who remembers such details, I just thougth of the posibility of Yui also paying attention to Hikki's tastes.

Thanks Excorsism! Oh gosh, I'm so addicted to this novel now. The conversations between Yukino and Hachiman are so enjoyable to read. Seeing Yukino becomes so sweet towards Hachiman now in contrast to earlier volumes made my heart melt. The last time I truly shipped a pair was about 5 years ago...but man, I just wish these two would just hug each other already. Since it's hard to imagine for them to be in such a position, when that happens in the novel would probably be the moment I have a heart attack.

Definitely. Their reaction seemed pretty protective as well since they didn't want to leave Hikki alone with Isshiki, that and I don't recall Hikki doing such a similar gesture to either of them before explains the mute reaction at the start.

Spoiler for Chapter 5:

The expressions Hikki got from Tobe and Totsuka's introspection from trying to gauge Hayama's choice on the electives selection seemed pretty mundane until they brought up their thoughts about the rumor. Hayama's expression about "Y" back during summer camp resurfaces here.

Hikki's thoughts about who "Y" is seems pretty consistent with his past narration. The aspect of him not even considering Yui or Yukino to be person in question and instead wondering about there plenty of people with names starting with Y does seem like him obsfucating the subject matter rather than the case of him having grown so close to the two girls that they don't even register into this matter when they should have been early suspects as well.

The chapter's last bit of people understanding each other was pretty rad. Although the eating analogy was weird enough I could put it down to the translators having some fun with the expression instead.

Did anyone catch if the cafe Hikki and Yui ran into Haruno this volume the same as when Hikki ran into Haruno before?

i wont owrry about komachi... she's the jewel in 8man eyes.... eventhou most of the time they dont see each other eye to eye however from the 1st chapter till the latest one... i feel like the relationship between komachi and 8man are indestructible even for Iroha to try and stole the position of the lil' sister from komachi
