Speaking of, suspicious as hell..... If she is going to cause the world skill users to collapse, and the more skills they have the worse they'll collapse, why is she giving her daughter something like this? There it has to be a blindspot that we are not seeing.

Did she actually call herself Shiro-chan (in the book title)? I kinda wonder if Ariel wrote it instead. There's a spider mascot character on the cover too.

With regards to skills being dangerous when Shiro is planning to remove them... for these two crazies maybe it doesn't matter at this point if they get more.

I don't know. It sounds like something she would say in her head. She probably doesn't have any trouble writing her thoughts. It's probably just speaking her thoughts to others she can't do.

Probably not? I mean, the mood is pretty much the same as D's new beginner god guide, and it doesn't look like Wakaba drinks (was there any alcohol for Kumoko to empty when she visited?)

Also bear in mind that she would dance around and make stupid gestures back when she was a spider (like her little illustrations). She really is just...like this...drinking only helps relieve the social anxiety...most people are like that. Why do you think alcohol has always been considered an integral part of social gatherings?

@星: I vaguely remember この星 can refer to the planet you're on, too. No, it doesn't make much sense, but the contexts I found it under didn't leave much choice. Well, I guess it makes a bit sense if you view your planet objectively as another celestial body, but... it's weird. Japanese is weird, Japanese are weird, all weird.

I had a look through the raw chapters where 星 comes up. It's always as a word by itself, so it's never the specific words for "planet" (惑星) or "star" (恒星). Hmm. Here's a thought. When "Kumoko" became "Shiraori" (ie during her apotheosis), the skills, titles, skill points and status she had in the System were all removed. The whole process took a long time but it was safe, presumably. So could a sub-set of the apotheosis system be used to delete skills etc from "normal" people safely? I wouldn't say this is automatically the case since that part of the system was developed with the assumption that the person has already cleared the necessary hurdles to become a god - one or more of those hurdles might make it safe. Anyway, it's an interesting example and something that Shiro could investigate.

When Kumoko became a God, she still retained all the energy (Soul Power) that the skills contained, she just lost her connection to the System (And the moniker of skills that it grants) And instead gained the ability to use that energy at will.

But for everybody else the energy itself is being ripped straight out of their soul (Being used to replenish the MA Energy) and as we saw from Oka, that is relatively fatal without the individual protection of a God. The skills just happen to crumble as a result of that.

makes me wonder if this training is more to make them build up their Divinity Area rather than skills in general. I wouldn't be surprised if she built a training program revolving around skills and development that would get them closer to apotheosis just so she doesn't have to explain everything about the system, her plans to shut it down, and the damage it will do. I mean, Sophia hasn't even maxed Taboo yet, she probably doesn't know much about what's going on. Also doing that kinda thing makes sense for her. She has to tell them what they need to do to survive. If they are going to obey her anyway, why struggle to tell them why and make them panic/rebel?

yeah, I know most of us guessed this. I'm just making conversation. Besides, I'm sure someone will bring up something I didn't consider.

doesn't look like it. Otherwise, I'd think she would understand the difference between Shiro and Ariel. Last she compared herself to them, she just thought that they were both far above her.

I kinda want Sophia to reach Ariel's level and then try to oppose Shiro only to come to the realization that there was never any chance of her winning against mom.
