Though not as plentiful in number as his female counterparts' depictions, I hope to please at least some by posting what little I have.
After all, a Kotomine is worth a thousand Sabers.

Nice Kotomine pics. I don't like the ones with him and Rin though.

And even in context, it's weird. The problem with the VN is that Nasu re-defines words to suit his needs, in this case, "kill." Well, as said, it's an idiom of sorts and once again language impedes understanding. Why can't we all just speak one language?

If you want the religious answer, the Tower of Babel.

If you want the practical answer, the overly religious people think the world will end when we all are the same (ie. all use the metric system, or all speak the same language).

Actually there's a scientific theory that we'll all speak English with Indian accents. I heard about it on QI...

Either way, it is frustrating that there are more multiple languages, but it also shows the depth and culture of each society, so its not all bad.

No, the practical answer is that most other countries don't really see why they should be forced to give up their own language and (consequentially) culture and speak ours instead.

Well, that makes sense, because English is clearly the dominant language at the moment (Chinese might be more widely spoken as a first language, but I don't see people in the West bothering to learn it in large numbers, whereas most educated people in the East already speak English to a decent level), and India has by far the largest collection of people who will speak English on a regular basis (although it's not actually their first language).

I'd imagine, though, that in reality even if everyone starts to speak English, there will still be some level of regional variations and accents, even if they will be diluted by mass media and long-distance communication.

If we left a bunch of prisoners on Antarctica to develop their own language, then came back one day 100's of years later, they'd probably respond with

"G'day, mate."

Or something related to dingoes

They'd be dead. Conditions on that continent are harsh, and without proper resources, all left there would be dead within the first month, maybe 3 if you REALLY stretch it.

Without "proper resources", they'd all be dead inside a day....

I would assume that, were people to be transported there like they were to Australia, they would be provided with the necessary equipment to at least give them a chance of survival.

Really? I love how she's punching him in that one pic, it even beats Sakura's sobbing ^^

There is no conclusive evidence as to the origin of language, and consequently nought but speculations about language diversity.
There are, however, two things I found striking:

1) 96% of the languages in the world (100% ~ 6000 languages) are used by merely 4% of the global population.
2) About half of all languages, around 3000, are likely to become extinct within the 21st century.

We're not too far from and furthermore rapidly approaching your ideal.

Swahili is the primary language in Africa, Europe is a melting pot, but all know English, South and Central America have Spanish (Portuguese for Brazil), every Eastern-Asian country has its own language, and North America has English, and Farsi is the most common in the middle east.
