Actually you know focusing on Machida as a main character might be pretty cool. That would mean there would be two stories. AxSxR and Machida. That would be nice to have a break from the LT in the movie.

To the post above mine: I hope not. I hope it's at least an hour. I would feel robbed if it was only 30 minutes.

Wouldn't it be the 2nd time Grace "died" in the show? The first time she "died" was when lovely Grace blew up the Zentradi planet just because it was indicated she might have to babysit Ranka for a bit.

I'm sure Grace can make her comeback if Kawamori is willing.

I am betting my 10 bucks that Leon will be back to haunt the main crew of Frontier. He is too good a villain to be languishing in jail and stand trial.

Grace as much I like her character has no more role to play. She pretty much threw all her cards in last battle.

Eh. Leon could just rot in jail and die. Don't think a lot of people thought Leon as a good villain. I probably would have wanted Grace as a Villain rather than him.

If it's a continuation and I'm positive it will be, then Leon or Biller might jump into the main villain seat. Both of them have more or less unsatisfied needs or shady goals. There was no problem with making semi-civilized Zentradi the villain in SDF after the final battle. The goal of creating a world and living in it is yet to be reached as well.

Would think they'd release it earlier to put out the fires of angry fans. Besides, if they use digital animation and outsource some of it, it shouldn't take that long. I would think they had started working on it some time ago, right after they finished the series, since they decided to leave the series somewhat unresolved.

Yes, there isn't much more they can do with computer animations right now. Adding details ect. does not pose a real problem. Besides, anime production process is quite long. They must have completed the series long time ago. If they announced a movie I'm sure the work has started already.

Grace has nothing to offer anymore, she lost Galaxy as a base and also as channel node for her downloads. What else can she use as viable weapon against new Frontier planet?

Leon is head of Intelligence and he shown that he has loyal subordinates that willing to do his dirty task even to extent of assassinating the President of Colonial Fleet. It means he can pull strings and get some rogue military elements to help him to realize his goal of turning Frontier leadership to him, something like Idi Amin or Auguste Pinochet.

Hence my comment he will make a good villain since he has resources to do something.

Grace has no more ace card in her sleeve to pull off anything more.

Yes! There will be much ass-kicking if they made him and his squadron the main cast. And given a movie budget, the eye-candy would put the mecha porn in episode 25 to shame.

I was just thinking, even I can think of a way to give it a Sheryl ending and still have enough drama left over for the movie:

Ranka concedes defeat and allows Sheryl to go pursue Alto across their new blue skies. Ranka reunites with her old manager and she goes star hopping to build her career and get away from the man she loved so she can clear her mind. Eventually the tour returns her to the Vajra homeworld for a homecoming concert with her old friend Sheryl. Naturally, she also meets Alto again and discovers that her feelings for him haven't completely fizzled. All you need now is a plot device to drive a wedge between Sheryl and Alto and you have all the ingredients you need for romantic drama.

And then we still have unanswered questions like the status of the rest of the Galaxy fleet and Bilrer's connection to Minmei as building material for the non-romantic plot. Not to mention Leon is still around, just incarcerated.

You, my friend, have just discovered a good way to make a homage to SDF Nevertheless, that plot would be nice. Still, I don't think Ranka will willingly give up in the first place.

The most important thing is how much time we'll have for everything. 2 hours like in DYRL would most likely be enough. 1.5 hour would even be sufficient.

Well, we know where some of the escort fleet is, maybe not all of it but parts of it were protecting Grace.

Don't forget the reincarnating cylon Grace O'Connor. She could very much come back as well. Then you have Vajra in other galaxies. I wonder how they will react. We still have evidence of pockets of Zentradi that don't like humankind very much still. Were some of the ruling council in it with Leon? Will Cathy Glass go the route of her father and be elected President ala Milia Jenius? Lots to build on outside the LT. But the idea you give for the LT is very much a nod to SDF/DYRL. I wouldn't mind actually seeing that. ONLY IF Ranka has grown up by then and they don't represent her character as someone still stuck in her teen years mentally. That would do nothing but irritate the living crap outta me. If they can some how keep the LT below 45% I will be happy since I am already understanding that the movie will most likely be a DYRL remake.

Let's see, what should I say?
Well it will ether ruin the series with killing most of the characters or it will not resolve anything. Only time will tell. But please Kawamori, just make sure you keep Sheryl and Klan alive.
