Well, it may be the single longest animated movie in Japan's history with the added 12 minutes and 53 seconds. The combined length of the two Space Runway Ideon movies (which were run back-to-back in theatres) was 184 minutes and this is now 162 minutes. It's two minutes longer than the old one "Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth" which was 160 minutes.

Vanishment takes place from December 17th-December 23rd. Edit: Forgot the conversations on the 23rd, does extend to that date.

I haven't read the novel, so I don't know how the story begins, but I would find it quote hilarious if the first scene was Kyon watching a baseball game on TV. Then the phone rings, only it turns out to be someone other than Haruhi.

Kind of like how the (IIRC) third Resident Evil movie starts out with repeating the opening of the first one, until it turns out that there's more to it.

Ah! You beat me to it. Darn my long drive to work. Absolutely amazing video, amps me up for the movie! A lot of spoilers there, and now we know a lot of things that will and won't be in the movie.

Wow! Major spoilers in that PV for non-novel readers. If you're an anime-only watcher of Haruhi, I would recommend not watching that PV, or you'll be majorly spoiled on what will happen in Disappearance.

For the absurd 2:42:53 duration. Well, it seen they are adding a few scenes in the end. They might extend the prologue as well. As it is a movie, they have kinda to reintroduct the characters. They might be wanting to also stabilish the 'roles of each character so the movie has more 'impact'. Yuki's role as 'savior' is particularly important to have in mind, I think.

It is still too long, tough.

Well, I am not complaning.

It's the soundtrack's release date, not the movie's.
