This was a solid show. Sure, as someone who had not played the game, I had hoped for a more sordid and far-reaching plot (ie: more about dystopia and less about saving a friend, especially with 24 episodes to work with), so was a little disappointed at the scope of the story, but whatever. It wasn't an original series, so it's not like they could exactly take major liberties with the plot.
While I would rank it in my top 5 of the last year or two (I still think Madoka is the best show of the past year, though Drum is shaping out in my eyes to give it a run for its money-just to put my tastes in perspective), I'm not sure it means much. Yes, I realize that sounds awfully negative, but...opinions...you know? Even now, for the last few episodes, I wasn't exactly dying for the next episode once it became abundantly clear that the plot wasn't really about dystopia (or WW3) as the saving Mayuri episodes continued to go on, and on, and on, and...you get the idea. That's me though, as I tend to enjoy big plots, or in the lack of one, zany wackiness, over what people like to call "character-driven" stories; an adjective I suspect will be the blogging buzz-word for this series. Still, despite its visual novel roots and slight pandering to that audience with a large aesthetically pleasing female cast, the show was decidedly lacking in school harem tropes that both VN and anime have fallen into the rut of portraying non-stop for the last few years, which automatically makes it a show worth watching, and possibly more important, buying (just to show Japan school harems aren't the pinnacle of their industry) in my eyes. As for this episode itself, it was fine, if a little too happy. I don't really get Suzahu's vanishing and how it works without Okabe vanishing. Yes, I can see that changing things maybe made it so WW3 never came about and Suzahu never travels back in time, but one would think if she never traveled back in time then neither does Okabe, so shouldn't this Okabe have vanished along with her? Still, I give Suzahu more props for having the balls to do what she did, knowing full well it meant...from a practical point of view, her death. It's easy to make lofty claims about sacrificing one's self for the greater good, but it's a whole different story when it comes to actually doing it, and I think she's been the one character in this series who consistently sacrifices the most, no matter what timeline we were in. Yes, I'm a fan. ;p Overall, I'd give it (and the series as a whole) an 8/10. |

Damn it I'm going to miss Steins;Gate, especially Kurisu and that mad scientist dude. ;_; Okarin is probably the most colorful and interesting protagonist of the past year. Miyano Mamoru seriously did an awesome job giving life to such a crazy character (the whole voice cast of S;G is great in fact).
Final score: 9.2/10. I wouldn't want to be in a worldline where I didn't watch this. Quote:
I guess I'll have to go with the explanation that everything goes to shit the moment Okarin swapped out the metal oopa (which should logically be the point where the timeline switched to S;G).

It's actually the same with the time leap machine. It's not actually possible to travel back in the past in the same timeline. Okabe actually moves world lines when he does that. It's just that the divergence change is just VERY VERY small that the Reading Steiner doesn't activate and there's no change when you look at a divergence meter.

How far would you go for love? Would you nearly kill your self? Would you torture your brain by seeing your loved ones die? Would you defy the world and make it bow to your will?
Simply an amazing series. One of the best conclusive/love progress/scify animes I've seen in years. 10/10 for me.

Alright we saved Kurisu! Everyone stays alive though they teased a possible Okabe death there. I actually did expect he'd have to get stabbed himself to make the blood to fool his old self. Was surprised he had a tool ready for that kind of situation, too bad it wasn't ready for the job so he had to get himself stabbed. Luckily he was able to avoid getting a vital injury and Suzuha had some technology to help keep him from bleeding out.
But wow this has been one amazing trip. The ending was definitely satisfying. The lab members have their badges and saw some hints that Kurisu also has those memories locked up inside of her. No doubt in my mind that they can end up together. There have been incredible highs and painful moments in the series, but it's all good in the end. Okabe went through hell, but made it out and is a stronger person for it. Now he just has to live his life. I wasn't sure how good this series was going to be, but have to say I really enjoyed it. Can't compare it to the VN, but will just say it was a good journey.

It was never weak or boring too me. I don`t know what you were watching. I for one loved the ending. I have not having played the game but knowing that having some unhappy end would ruin it. While spending hours to complete it wouldn`t go over well at all. This is why it is one of the top visual novels, combined with all the other elements it brought. I will miss this show just like everyone else will. |

Overall im going to have to give the series a 9, i loved the whole series but i was a bit dissappointed with the ending, i mean i like how it ended up and everyone was alive and well and the part where Okabe hands out badges and i liked how the 2 star crossed lovers met up in the final moments, but... i cant help but feel the way that Okabe resolved the issue was a big huge cop out!, mainly because the okabe that tried to save Kurisu the first time didnt appear! which made things incredibly simple!
So even though i liked the ending i was still dissapointed at how simply it was all resolved. Until this appeared: EPIC 11/10 SCORE!!!!!!!! P.S. the episode i watched was soft subbed and the subs didnt appear, but it says "STEINS GATE MOVIE CONFIRMED!" roughly |

Okarin was pretty gutsy to use his own blood. Glad it worked out in the end. Really like how they were able to find each other in the new time line. So did Suzuha mean she would be born in 7 years?
Awesome news about the movie. Wonder what it'll cover. Maybe about Suzuha and the war. Though there is one thing bugging me still, When Okarin's future self sent him that video there was definitely somebody in the chair to left,i might just be paranoid, but i feel that will come into play maybe.

I'm really disappointed at the ending.... so we didn't have Okarinx Kurisux Mayuri threesome, but having Okarin x Kurisu and Mayuri enxpanding her yuri field to Moeka instead...? So disappointed.
Anyway joking aside, good solid ending. Pretty much as good as it can get, except, can't they let Suzuha mother paying a homage into one of the screen? I means now i start to worry that without SERN/ WW3, Daru may miss out his wife....

That's bugging me too, along with: shouldn't there be two Okabe's in the present? If time travel doesn't exist in the new Gamma worldline, then the Okabe who found Kurisu just goes on living his life linearly, and should still be there when time-traveling Okarin arrives.

Am I the only one who got huge Ever 17 vibes from the last two episodes? Not a bad thing by any stretch of the imagination and Steins;Gate certainly is no rip off, but there's a few notable similarities in story, characters, and mechanics.

I just loved the episode, particularly when Okabe wishes his past self luck, because he is about to "begin a long journey". Indeed, it was one hell of a journey. Good moments, sad moments, funny moments, tragic moments, it had all of them. Steins Gate deserves nothing but praise. It was entertaining all the way from the beginning to the end, I don't remember not once thinking "this episode was boring". Now, what am I going to do without Steins Gate? I might as well enter an infinite loop of watching and re-watching the series. :3

Spoiler for Ever 17/Steins;Gate compare and contrast, may have Ever 17 spoilers:
Like I said, certainly S;G doesn't rip off Ever 17, but when I look at all that I can't help but think it may have been a major influence.

5pb consist of people who were used to be in KID, the production studio for Ever17
However that's a big red herring since the writer now works at Chunsoft :P Though the music is awesome on both titles. Bravo Abo Takeshi, bravo
