I have mixed thoughts on this 'monster of the week' format. It feels repetitive and keeps reinforcing the idea of Hank trying to save people but not being able to.
Well anyways, I hope the story improves. Schaal's personality is getting kinda annoying to watch now imo.

Precure had a monster of the week format for more than 10 years, and the show is still being watched.
Anyway, I've read the Katsute manga.. so cannot answer without spoiling things. All I can say is it will get better.

Frankly, if a werewolf is able to hold a Behemoth back like that, than the Behemoth isn't really that strong.
Oh, and can we at least get one of the females now? The monster of the week thing is fine and all, but we still have a Harpy and Arachne according to the ED, so maybe some boobs now will help make the anime feel more refreshing? Oh, and the stupid girl is feeling pretty pointless so far. There are still females in the show and the protagonist has both more intelligence and strength than her, so the only thing I can see her doing is catering to the people that hate monster girls and big breasts but are still watching this show. Quote:
Outside of the fact it is technically a kids show, has many cours worth of episodes, and also has a strong presence in merchandise.

Watched episode 4:
sad end for the behemoth. Well, better see the ocean that he wants to see. this happened a little different in the manga, so some people might want to take a peek. Cain really making sure he's evil. Where he get his loli?

It's been a decent show thus far (definitely more entertaining than Fairy Gone) but at this point I've decided to call it quits. I don't dislike it but the theme that it's always hamfisted about is a bit too arbitrarily "Fantastic Aesop" for it to resonate so I'm not getting a whole lot of substance out of it. And there's too many "decent" shows for me to watch and I have to make a cut somewhere.

Call me one of those who actually sees value in Schaal's role. She is there primarily to learn the truth behind Hank's squad while also voicing the concerns that a neutral audience would have about the whole "killing transformed people" affair. At the same time, she functions as a grounding for Hank

Schaal is the voice of social consciousness for the series. These "monsters" are war vets/war heroes who are not useful to anyone due to "winning the war at all costs" mentality that chose to transform humans into weapons without a way of transforming them back. In a way, the real monster was the war machinery that produced those poor guys.
I wonder if this title is a metaphor to discuss war vet integration into post-war society.

I could be wrong but I doubt the author thought about it that much and in all honesty the writing doesn't strike me as coming from someone with experience on this topic. Of course, I don't have any experience with this topic either - just experience reading stories from those who have.

That kid was so lucky to see those abandoned sacred breasts in their full glory.
I liked the antagonist this week, and we're apparently going to get a confrontation with Cain a lot sooner than I expected. Good stuff. Cain is obviously trying to build an army of Incarnates to do... evil things, I guess. Hank took months to recover after being shot in the same spot, so how is he supposed to be up and ready the next day?
