Great chapter. I'm a bit disappointed that Cruz really turned into Yamada now though. I hope he'll be able to return to Cruz later on in the story.

As for Blade, I actually don't think he has doppelganger now.

The way Blade says it ('right now') makes it sound like he can only heal her now that he has the almighty power. He'll lose this chance after his power leaves him.

He could be saying for multiple reasons, he could mean right away, or because the portal is closed all Needless Fragments will go away, or it could be alluding that he already lost his god powers, which makes because why wold Blade need to be in contact with Eve's head and run over to reattach it considering he just brought Seth and Solva back from nothing, meaning Blade will be using Doppleganger to bring her back to life.

In regards to Cruz going back to a guy- I highly doubt that's going to happen, considering that if the announcement on ANN is correct, there's only one chapter left in the story (for this part, I presume)

Killed it? All Blade did was restore the natural order of things. restored the cuties and the girl squad (i think), and in his infinite wisdom realised Cruz was always way too cute to be a boy... so he fixed him...

Yeah, I agree with you on the trap/genderbender issue. I've always been happy with Cruz as a trap since it was a large part of the humor and that the fanservice was extra, especially since he provided all the pantyshots during the Eve Story arc. It was a great running gag in the series, especially since all the characters were able to play off it, especially Kuchinashi, Disk and Blade.

Now that he's a genderbender, it removes that running gag and replaces it with... well, with what exactly? It doesn't serve any purpose to his character or the story beyond the initial joke. I mean, now that the shock, surprise (and laughter) is over, what's there to do with him now that he's a girl? Is he still going to act like a guy and be embarrassed all the time? I'm really curious to see how Cruz responds to this.

Then again, I've never been a big fan of genderbent characters, so maybe this is just an initial reaction that has yet to really sink in. Who knows, I may or may not like what's going on with Cruz when everything is over, but for now, I'm not that thrilled with the sudden sex change.

And on a related but lighter note:

If the next wasn't the last chapter I'd be certain we'd be getting a flashback chapter. With what Saten is saying about "This is similar to having your life flash before your eyes." It seemed like the ideal setup for that. But with 28 pages to wrap it all up that doesn't look possible to me.

But seriously, I'm really happy we're so close to the end. This last Arc has just too much going on and happening each chapter. It feels like a rollercoaster without breaks and no safety bars to hold on to. I'd welcome a slower pace which I suspect will reintroduce itself as soon as Needless 2 will start. Is there anyone else with the same sentiments or is it just me?

I hadn't noticed that but yeah it does look like they're suggesting without the almighty it couldn't be done, which would be odd if Blade has Doppleganger since Doppleganger by itself should be able to reattach the head. I don't know whether we'll get a definitive answer but your observation is interesting enough to not put any thoughts about this into stone just yet.

As much as I love Needless and want the story to just go on and on and on... I am kinda happy that we're near the end of the first half, receiving all these explanations and watching everything unfold the way it has. These resolutions have been unexpected, exciting and entertaining, and leave me feeling satisfied but wanting more. But at the same time, I also kinda wanna go back to the slower, more comedic phase of the manga that I feel in love with when I originally picked it up. Hopefully the second half will provide that whenever it starts up.

Well, they both have always worn striped panties. The only differences are that Setsuna originally wore green striped panties but then transitioned to blue (probably because of the anime coordinating the colors to each girl's hair color) and that she's wearing side-ties in the City arc.

I was thinking Cruz might adopt another style but there really isn't much else since virtually every style has been claimed at this point.

I think the best thing that can happen to Cruz at this point is if his female body provides some significance to the story, like what you mention above with him spying. I don't really know what else the manga can do with her at this point that'd be vital the story or Cruz's character as what the crossdressing was able to accomplish. I suppose the manga can continue to make jokes about the issue, but I thought everything was fine (if not funnier) with him being forced to crossdress because of everyone else around him.

I probably should have more patience on the issue but I really enjoyed having him be a trap, especially since you hardly ever see any traps as the protagonist in a story.

I agree with others that it's sort of a bummer. I was always half expecting this to happen, for Adam N. to manifest in the physical world, but for it to be done as part of a gag and this close to the end, feels off! The only really fun part of it is the troll faces Disk got to make, she's turned into an even bigger predator than Blade ever was. Blade using his almighty power to correct an 'injustice' isn't all that surprising either, I guess, given how much he desired that world of the Sheepshead Wrasse. I guess we'll see what happens from here, but so much was packed into this chapter that it's going to take me a while to digest it properly. Eesh!

Also, it is quite possible that Doppelganger is not all you need to reattach a head. Needless makes it trivial matters to regenerate pretty much everything but the brain. Only the Adam series themselves have been shown to be capable of that, I think? Gido even needed special equipment just to operate on Blade's brain. There was also the thing with Arclight saying he would restore Arka to normal if she told him what he wanted to know, but that's easily dismissed as him toying with her, and it's just as possible that he never intended to allow her to live, anyway. (Why would he, with her compromised?)

Cruz gender being officially swapped has to play a part in the story, after this whole even is over Cruz is longer completely powerless and could actually get himself some normal cloths, hell after what happens to Blade I wouldn't be suprised if Cruz adopted a similar outfit if he were still a male. Turning Cruz into a female has to be plot relevant in the future, otherwise Cruz would go back to dressing as a male once part 2 started.

Imai needs Cruz to continue dressing as a girl.

Since you apparently become a god once you gain all 12 stigmata, I've always thought that the 12 stigmata were keys needed to reach the Garden of Eden/the tree of life or in other words immortality, since a god is immortal.

Nobody has gained all 12 stigmata yet, so we don't really know what will happen though. Arclight didn't have Shield of Aegis, Saten doesn't have Shield of Aegis and Blade doesn't have doppelganger. Blade only got the almighty after eating the Angel.

But if Blade and Eve were to merge during the last chapter of Needless 1, and Blade gains doppelganger that way, then Blade will have all 12 stigmata..
