You have to give her credit at least for having a grand (despite somewhat naive) ambition and her intellect. What she lacks is maturity. But all in all, for a 12-year old, she's pretty amazing in her own way. It was a good thing that she was raised in Kioka. God knows what kind of spoiled brat she would be if she were raised in the Empire.

Also, she was in a way trying to find out more about Ikta (to qualify him) and also impress him so that she can sell her plan and ambition to him later. But more than that, she has a developing crush on Ikta throughout the series. And it can be inferred (my own inference) that the crush probably started after that Kioka rescue, and like a little girl in love, she was probably also trying to catch his attention by impressing him with her knowledge about him. Though throughout the series, it was mentioned that she was unaware of what she was feeling.

But the stuff you wrote in the spoiler is pretty sad. Why'd you want him to remain forever alone?
I'd view that as a bad end. People have to move on, even if it's painful and will take a while.

Yeah, I know. It's my occasional love of tragic/bittersweet romance kicking in.

The reason I suggested that is because I want to see a scene where the two reunite in the after life, with Yatori holding her hand out and Ikta slowly walking toward her, becoming younger with every step until he's at the same age as he was when she died when he took her hand. It won't be fair for whoever he love later on if he just up and take Yatori's hand like that so I wrote that he remain alone so it could happen and to spare the possible lover a sad fate.

If it isn't some mass trolling, then it's pretty definitive now, Yatori is dead. What a let-down. Dunno how she died, was it explicitly shown to the reader or was it only an assumption (e.g. she was engulfed in an explosion of some kind)? I doubt there will be some deus ex machina/resurrection magic to undo it. I would really like to know how she died exactly.

Yatori probably was never meant to be the lead heroine, this title belonged all along to the princess. This whole situation reminds me a little about the Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Yatori being Kircheis (abrupt fate of the pivotal character in the early stage of the series - also the hair colour match ;-)). I'm disappointed, as I truly believe that one volume probably wasn't enough to portrait Yatori past, divulge into her thought process or to expand her relationship dynamics with Ikta to the utmost extent.

ok i drooping this is yatori is dead not for been heroine but for cliche avanced plot shit the classic i lost my love and now i start to be cool.....for crist sake now we see a serious sorlock guy no way in hell this is the same to kill rias from higschool dxd just for plot ...... fan guys rage and the novel dies is the same too like the is mc ichika choose a girl thats is imposible, also the way she dies....a explosion for real!! that beast of a warrior igsem for die in explosion you kidding me....not even the sadist autor of black bullet do something like this shit i mean the heroine have at least 1 and half years to live making the guys that read the ending is coming also the other heroine became evil and maybe fight the mc later but kill for real....the least interesting characters the princess loli 12 year old playing yatori or the medic spy girl for real!!!.....ufff too much rage i drop this shit and erase the manga and novels i buy even for war and plot killing your best chest piece so fast especially a queen type the author maybe is axing this novel..... what do you think guys?

You can drop everything you had, no one try to stop you. But saying that author killed Yatori or her death cliché are so immature. From very start, Ikta trying to lead to peaceful and stable life (a librarian), because his father's death and fame, he avoid to become a military command, and if it was "as his plan", then no way he make something chaotic like a revolution, unless he no longer have anywhere to hide.

Then guess If Yatori died by an "unavoidable act" from system of world's order? Then he will definitely flip-up the world, destroy system and rewrite all that "order".

It's not "acting cool", it was pure revenge. And remember that a social revolution throughout war method was never cool, it is a hurtful lifetime choosing, which use very much human blood to past over limit of old "system".

So from what I've read from spoilers it seems she died via explosion. Now my question is was her death explicitly shown? Or do we just see the explosion and are told that she's dead?
Cuz there could be a lot of leeway depending on which option.

Also just some thoughts, but I find the timing odd. It just feels too late for something like this. And it can't be compared to TTGL because Simon was always the main chara, and the mentor-figure dying wasn't that mindblowing. Unlike here, where Yatori was the de facto main heroine.
