Everyone underestimated Kagutsuchi’s unique ability to completely regenerate and adapt(1) after incurring catastrophic damage. 1. Adapted to space flight capable mech. Other Childs can’t completely regenerate and adapt after incurring catastrophic damage. After the Child is destroyed, Valkyrie's protection would be gone. Last edited by encia; 2007-03-09 at 07:29. |

I watched most of Mai Hime but alas I missed a few episodes so could anyone tell me what the deal is with Fumi's child i.e. appearance, abilities and how it's relate to Mashiro. Heck whilst you're at it can you explain what in flying monkeydom is going on with Mashiro
You have my thanks if you choose to answer

Mashiro was the "winner" from the last HiME battle. After she won, the Obsidian Lord froze her body inside a crystal, but her mind remained active.
Somehow Mashiro contacted Fumi telepathically and used her weak power to bond herself as Fumi's child. By channeling Fumi's HiME abilities, she created another body (underaged and weak) to inhabit. Then when Fumi calls upon Mashiro as her child, she becomes filled with a child's full strength and transforms into a battle form to fight at Fumi's side. This is why she has two bodies: One was her original body which was frozen in crystal while the other is an artificial body created by merging her power with Fumi's power. It is also interesting that she was both Fumi's beloved person AND Fumi's child at the same time. There are a few vague elements in that summary, but I think it answers basically "what in flying monkeydom is going on with Mashiro."

Ah, I see. Well one more question if I may. Has it been settled whether Shizuru molested Natsuki or not. It's clear she kissed her without her consent and that's already enough for sexual harrasment/assualt charges but what I'd really like to know is if she crossed the line of no return when she disrobed and lay down with her.
Personally whilst I could see Natsuki coming to like Shizuru I'd have thought Shizuru's unwanted intimacy would have soured Natsuki's feelings for her.

They showed that scene after Natsuki's eyes widened as she had heard the truth, so it's possible that was just Kuga's imagination. But then Yukino says a quite strange thing "I've seen it. Just like you kissed [...] a moment ago.". From this we can read that she saw something more, but wasn't stated if that was another kiss or something else.

For a translation of the original title, I do believe it would be Dance Princess. Since Mai means dance, and Hime does mean Princess. XD |

"HiME" doesn't mean "princess" - it means "Highly-Advanced Materializing Equipment".
Of course, it's a pun, but it's impossible to render in English. I, for one, refer to it as "Mai-HiME", even if it's not the official English title - it's a matter of principle. After all, the official English title of Mai-Otome is "My-ZHiME: My-Otome", but nobody calls it that. |
