There's a short post-ED scene, before the preview. Shinjuu-sama is looking really unhealthy. I'm worried that the heavenly gods have managed to exploit Yuuna's connection to the tree in order to curse them both at the same time.
Speaking of looking unhealthy, Yuuna is in terrible shape, and the whole episode was simply heartbreaking. It seems very much like the tale of a person suffering from a terminal illness, and the feelings and questions that it evokes are much the same ones. Why did things have to turn out like this? Why does this have to happen to someone so vibrantly full of life? What monster would inflict this on a girl who simply wants to live a happy life with her friends? The answer to that last question is "the author," and he'd better fix this or I will find some way to make him suffer the same fates he's inflicted on his characters!

The author must have a tremendous disgust of reality. Either that or he's a great sadist, of the likes of Gen Urobuchi.
To go as far as writing his characters in such miserable situations, probably to make himself feel he's in a better world. Last edited by RDNexus; 2017-12-15 at 18:23. |

Well, they are not even the same genre for starters. So in a scale of 1-10 I'll give it B+ duck score.
Also, as much as I care about the characters here the series is toeing very dangerously into melodrama. I just hope it just doesn't mindlessly go into character bashing for drama sake

I feel better about the episode now that I've had some time to process it, but initially I didn't like the placement of the comedic bits in the beginning. Considering where we left off last week, despite them being genuinely funny they felt tone deaf since we know Yuna's circumstances and (I at least) wanted some immediate progress on some resolution to her dilemma. You can't just leave me hanging with her crying in the snow last week and suddenly give me yuri-baiting shenanigans!
Thankfully we DID get progress - we finally get a solid explanation for everything that happened at the end of season 1, and while a small part of me feels this was something the writers had to figure out after-the-fact as opposed to planning it from the beginning, I'm pretty satisfied. |

Hmmm... I remember reading something on the Hero system and the selection process... Don't they have to be virgin's? If so then getting married may be one step to removing Yuna from being a hero AND by proxy remove her Curse of the Gods... Thus sparing her life.
Hope that happens at least. Fu (And Gin) may be my favourite(s) but the rest of the girls are all =2nd's for me so having any of them die would be horrible... This series knows no bounds though. :/

Always knew religious extremists were bad news... But hell, the Taisha seem like they're manipulating Yuna into going through with the Shinkon without being totally honest (as per usual) about certain aspects of the ceremony, like, what does "everyone will become people of god"? I know what they mean by it, they'll change humans into something else.
Perhaps it'll be a way to make humans immortal... By killing them. Something smells fishy, sure the Taisha want to hurry the ceremony along because they fear Yuna dying will be the last chance at saving humanity... But it feels like the situation everyone is in... Has been manufactured.

Well the Taisha remain creepy as always. Just minor sacrifices for the sake of peace. A perfect example of following that belief to the extreme and resulting in having a massive hall of gravestones. Continually sacrificing a few leaves you with a mountain of corpses in the end.
Definitely a messy situation now. Have supernatural forces ready to crush them, Yuna in a self-sacrificing ritual, and not a lot of time. Will have to make some hard decisions.

Damn, I got some Book of Revelations & Independence Day vibe in the end of the episode..
How the Heroes will deal with that while Yuuna is about to be sacrificed & their phones are inactive..?
