The anime is a very sort of soulful romantic dark spiritual sci-fi horror that involves... like everything you could think of. It's almost like FLCL in that you just have to see it to understand it. There is a LOT of gore though, right from the get-go, and I believe some nudity, so it is obviously not meant for uninformed ill-prepared 'immature' individuals who would get scarred by the experience of seeing it.

About you saying immature people being scared... that's fair enough I think. What I hate is when people say they like Elfen Lied only because of the violence and nudity. Clearly not very intelligent.

I watched the first episode out of curiosity after reading about the nudity and bloodshed. But I was hooked by Kouta's flasback which indicated that Kouta and Lucy had known each other when they were younger. I thought that it was a great story and the importance of family was an important theme. If Kurama had raised Mariko she would have probably become like Nana. And the inhabitants of the Maple Inn were like a family where even horned humans were accepted and loved.

i like the anime version better than the manga although the anime hasn't gotten as far so who knows i really hope the anime doesn't take the manga's path(if it continues) but that's just me

I was really hooked with the serie and I wanna know if there're coming new anime episodes?? Do anyone know, cuz the ending really sucked. IT CANNOT END LIKE THAT!!!! What happened to Lucy and Kohta :S:S It was really really touching!!

The anime's ending didn't suck. There was just enough closure to make you feel okay about the characters yet still worry about them, which I've seen reoccur in many Japanese films and anime.

But no, there's nothing more than the 13 episodes and 1 OVA.

If you want to find out how the story ended you can read through the manga threads. The loose ends are tied up.
