was imho obvious the moment her lookout tower was revelead in the last picture.
Even the carriers that have their antennas shown don't have them in that position and shape - the closest one to that shape would be Sara whose lookout tower/antenna you can't see at all.

A shortened flight deck with an island bridge structure so that normal flight operations can happen, but also have cruiser turrets on either the front or back....or both. One concept someone had for the Japanese would be Tone lengthened a little or the flight deck, with the bridge made into a island, but all the forward gun turrets left intact.

Unknown. No one ended up building any as they were intended as a loophole in the treaties. The guns are meant to be a deck lower than the flight deck. As well as not crossing over the deck like Lexington, or over a deck like Akagi.

As far as I'm understanding it, there are two options for Suzuya. A Suzuya Kai Ni and a Suzuya Kou Kai Ni. For Kai Ni a blueprint is necessary. For the Kou Kai Ni one needs a blueprint, development material and fast construction mats (flamethrower). It's possible to shift her back to Kai Ni.

The Attack CVL is a high speed CVL. In case of no surface enemies present, the Attack CVL will attack subs like a CVL. If surface enemies are present she will attack like a regular CV. So no soaking off a Attack CVLs strikes with a single sub.

Suzuya Kai Ni stats: 76 FP, 88 TORP, 85 AA, 74 ARM, 14 LUCK (Comparison Tone Kai Ni: 77 FP, 82 TORP, 82 AA, 79 ARM, 15 LUCK)

Suzuya Kou Kai Ni stats: 56 FP, 87 AA, 74 ARM, 13 LUCK, 15/12/12/8 Slots (Comparison Junyo 40 FP, 74 AA, 62 ARM, 24/18/20/4 slots, slow ; Comparison Chiyoda 34 FP, 72 AA, 65 ARM, 24/16/11/8 slots).

I think CVL is the way to go. Her slots aren't amazing, but the other stats blow the other CVLs right out of the water.

Whoa...that looks like a full or nearly full flight deck there.

So one version is basically what Mogami got historically. The other...Ibuki-class refit? Or a shorter deck version with guns where it be more like those planned but never built flight deck cruisers?

You need 1 blueprint for the Kai to K2 remodel, and one for the K2 - Kou K2.
You don't need blueprint to convert from Kou K2 to K2, but you need one to convert from K2 to Kou K2 even if you have remodel her to Kou K2 before.

This is quite the bother. It's as if the devs are trying to encourage folks to go the CVL route. And according to comments on Bahamut, it seems that one of the new, Suzuya Kai Ni-related missions requires the CAV version. Seriously,why?

Or is this a Tanaka plot to make us start a JK harem?

That's right. Suzuya Kai Ni as flagship required. Unless there's some great reward I'll just leave that one aside since I've already remodeled her into the CVL form.
