looking for a sad ending

hey this is my first time putting a thread on suggestions... there are too different kinds of anime im looking for if anyone can find something like that.

im looking for a real tear jerker with a sad ending or an anime with a sad storyline. romance would probably be best in this category if you can find one... heres some ive already seen like that
  • kanon
  • air
  • clannad
  • school days
  • KGNE
  • elfen lied
something like those...

or if anyone can find a good romance thats like taboo. like love thats not suppose to be. no yaoi though... something like
  • da capo
  • koi kaze
  • chobits
any suggestions? please help!

Fate/Stay Night could certainly be viewed as a sad ending, so I would have to agree on that.

As you have Da Capo in your list of seen, you may want to check out Shuffle! and Gift Eternal Rainbow also. Gift is a lot more on the sad side (especially towards the last few eps) then Shuffle (although about on par with Da Capo), and both have elements of "forbidden" love like in Da Capo... in fact I'd say they are very close to Da Capo in that each one has the main guy falling for a "sister" (even if it's not blood related).

H2O ~Footprints in the Sand~
also has quite a bit of sadness in it, especially towards the end when things finally start coming together and you realize why things have been as they are in the series.

If you liked Chobits you should probably check out DearS, both are similar-ish in the fact that you have the "girl" found at the begining and stuff.

Suzuka
also quite a few sad moments/story in it, so you may want to check that out too.

I'll have to second Grave of the fireflies for tearjerkers. Utterly heartbreaking. It's even worse when you consider that the book the movie was based on was semi-autobiographical.

No Bra is kind of taboo, but it's manga only and rather upbeat. I'd like to see more animes like this too. I really enjoyed Koi Kaze.

hows that incest?

Since describing sad endings would be a spoiler ill just list/opinionate(not a word)
I thought Geass R2 was a pretty sad ending, kinda like Fate/Stay night type of sad ending

Chrno Crusade-definitely a sad ending after all that character building and bond they nourished the entire way

Mobile Suit Gundam-Kinda sad, though if you don't like mecha its still good with the heavy amount of cast they have all suffering and stuff. Though S2 just came out to relieve some of that.

utawarerumo-REALLY hard to memorize name and definitely sad ending there

Shingetsutan Tsukihime-Fate/Stay Night type of sad, maybe a bit more.

Well, the ending may not be all that sad, but some of what goes on during the series could certainly be sad if you've connected with the chars...

Spoiler for Gift:

It's been too long since I've seen it for me to remember a lot about it, but I just remember it as a series that had some sad points... although I guess that could depend on how you define sad and if you connected with the chars as I said above.

Edit: Also don't forget that I was also mentioning them in the "forbidden love" as there is the "brother/sister" love, even if it isn't blood related.

Ya, which is why I did say the ending wasn't all that sad. However the OP didn't say the ending HAD to be sad, just that it had that or a sad story. I mean KGNE is pretty much the same ending wise, but it's certainly a sad story.

Incest for lack of a better word. Do you have a better way of referring to a romantic relationship between two sisters?

I don't really think there is a better word tbh... although I can maybe see where he is coming from if it isn't blood related sisters. (have never seen the series so don't know)
