another fun episode. ^^

whoa, they all really improved. Easily defeat all those B-rank hunters. Plenty of money from selling nendoroids as well.

I don't know why they had Mile say she needed to come in at number 5 when they were going to totally ignore how she did that. Her training up the male street orphan, who became a hunter to support the other orphans, to their level, and then having him take over her fight was an important part of the story.

Yeah honestly it's sad they're cutting out great characters like him, even if their presence in the story is intermittent. Especially since the characters they're creating new for the anime are so horrendous, even by TR clone standards.

After watching again, I'm starting to wonder if they mean to Flanderize these characters. Like maybe make Pauline into just a healer most if not practically all the time. I mean, they've cut out just about all of her dark nature as well as almost all of her attack magic.

Can't she create panties with magic?

or give anyone an idea to make them?

As I said, no self-respecting girl in that culture would wear them. Look into the history of swimsuits. They used to be big and baggy and hid everything. A woman made a swimming suit that was tight-fitting for sport swimming and it was seen as scandalous early on. Same thing here. The girls freaked out that those big, baggy drawers were exposed earlier.

To be fair, there might be one objective reason they decide to eliminate the School Arc, so much of the Hunter School Arc and even changed the explanation for why Mile does not need incantations at all, one that is blowing up in her face as we speak (in the WN).

Spoiler for Book 1 spoilers, and we are done with Book 1 in anime:

Think about how hard it'll be to actually sell the explanation they gave as truly convincing, even at the time, without making Mile look at least a little bad. They might have decided it isn't worth the trouble and controversy. Mile would be the only one who has a demonstrated "no incantation" capability anyway. So they used the easiest explanation for it and the school girls ... well, they don't have to show up and as long as they don't show up using their magic there will be no one to bust this theory

Wow this's rushed. And yet another week of annoying cuts. What did they do to the rock lizard sequence? I know it's getting old but...
Spoiler for in the LN/manga:

And on a plus side, we see Pauline show some actual combat magic, and Mavis's combat is at least a little bit better. And while they cut Mile being sent flying by the rock lizard's tail (makes sense since they nerfed the darn things to the point where no one would believe a single swing ought to be able to shatter ribs) they managed to get the final result across by adding in a golem with a rocket punch that carries at least as much power.

On the other hand, WTF!? Her Lattice Energy Barrier BROKE!? That thing's literally made of lattice energy, the stuff that holds molecules together. That thing's supposed to be nearly impenetrable.

And even if this is "a kids' show" it's nice to see they're keeping Reina's dark past. Here's hoping they keep everyone's easy acceptance of the idea of killing if truly necessary.

I really "liked" how they got rid of all the other hunters for the convoy mission, thus showing a clear failure to understand their importance to the characters' growth.

Arifureta come back. Heck, Smartphone come back. All is forgiven!

Watched episode 4:

another very enjoyable episode. I was laughing when Miles was toying with the Kaboom golem.

Pauline outsmarted that fatass scumbag merchant. good.

Reina so kawaii in the school uniform. Hmm, she has a dark past... maybe it will be explored more later.

looking forward to next week!! ^^

Get to see a little of Reina backstory

Kind of a pity they didn't start with clues to the backstories like they were supposed to.

But actually they really toned down Pauline's cruelty. The poor cheated little girl act I said they played in the guild originally was specifically intended to hurt the merchant's reputation, and it resulted in his business being blacklisted: the guild won't accept quests from them anymore, most Hunters specify that their products aren't to be sold to him... he's going to have one hell of a time getting any merchandise at all. As was said in High School Prodigies, a merchant who's lost his trust has lost everything.

feel there was a missed gag oppotunity when Mile got hit by the Knuckle attack.

She should have been positioned in the 'dbz Yamcha explosion' dead pose

Spoiler for official art:

had to put some light novel readers on ignore list (thank goodness the forum has function to make certain posts invisible). The constant comparing, whining, storytelling about the novel almost every week makes the thread too toxic for me.

I'm sorry that I've been so big or been whining so much. I just loved the books and the way the anime's handling it feels more than a bit like Teen Titans Go. It's fine if you like it, but it breaks this vintage lover's heart. And yet I like it well enough to continue, so I will say that while it has a tendency to get to me, I do find it worth watching, no matter how much I rage sometimes. I just hope it hasn't led anyone to opt out of actually reading the original as it is indeed awesome.

I would recommend that anyone likes this to read the original material after this is done. Most of it will be new, since this is not telling the original story. This isn't like Cardcaptor Sakura where they made some changes to make it better in an anime format. This is like Cardcaptors, where they butchered the material to tell a different story. In the light novels there are hints that all the incidents they are involved in are tied together someway. And this will likely be my last post in this forum since this isn't the story I have been following..
