What I find even more disturbing is that he may be able to interview witnesses, which means he while have continual contact with the children he victimized (assuming he is guilty). The whole situation is just plain sickening. |

Frankly, I have some trouble with the notion that viewing the material further damages the children. Their damage occurred during the filming. Any further damage would be from seeing the films themselves or in having to confront this bastard in court.

I did read it before posting, and I actually agree with the sheriff. The law has to be followed.
I have a feeling that loophole in the current law is going to be closed post haste.

I was stewing over coffee and I'm not sure it can be closed. As long as someone is allowed to act in their own defense and as long as kid porn has to be viewed by *somebody* in the process of preparing a case (though that idea makes me sad for the preparer) ... I'm at a loss.

He's just doing it because he thinks it'll help him, not because he actually believes or disbelieves in it. As far as I can tell, most Republicans would only sign or denounce it if they thought it would increase their chances of winning.
Bachmann is probably the only candidate retarded enough to actually believe in the content of the pledge.

An unfortunate truth seems to be what happens to the United States effects the planet. At least in terms of economics and in some respects politics. Does anyone honesty think a Second Civil War won't bring down the world economy? Especially if it is bloodier than the first one?
That's probably not viable anyway, since there is not a clear division within the nation to form a second government that can be supported against the Federal Government. The lines for Republicans and Democrats are far too spread out to make a second fuctional nation. Red and Blue states don't tell the story at all I'm afraid...the blue is major population centers and the red is everything else if one looks a a Red-Blue map based on voting districts...and even that should be shades of purple. We don't have a real divide like we had in the 1860s. The two parties are bascially the same thing, just talk out of different sides of their faces. Both parties will try to enact the same legislation if given the chance to do it first. If not, they will be violently opposed to it because the other party got there first...and that is the only reason they object to anything. Credit for completed tasks...chance of reelection...power. The people voting for each party are more different than the actual parties are.

There could be a possibility that the feeling is gone though - most of our national team is made up of foreigners rather than the local Singaporeans. With 36% foreigners, where can there be a Singapore spirit?

Before I go on, I take back what I said earlier, 250GB isn't a lot for anyone if the article isn't lying and 1GB does cost 2cents. If that's true, the guy got banned for $5. That's not even realistic.
Anyways, I was thinking just that actually, but I have to wonder if any of the other services available there would have more stringent caps on bandwidth than Comcast. |
