Yet another livestream video on 1.26.2016.
Tri-Ace/Square Enix is pulling all the stops in hyping this game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIj9...ature=youtu.be |

Looks like the US release may still be a ways off; the menus and labels in that trailer are still in Japanese. I just hope the US release is an International Edition with the original JP voice acting like SO 4's PS3 release. I can read the Japanese in the JP version, but it's far easier reading it in my first language.

Well that can happen. Voices are on a certain level pretty subjective, like what you like and don't like what you don't.
Personally I'm ok with it. Not sure if I really like the voice cast so far, but I think it's good enough that I'll be just fine with it at the worst. After watching it a couple times I do have voices I like more than others, but they seem good. Fidel (MC) sounds fine and Relia is pretty solid. Actually like that voice for the character.

So it seems it's going to be like 1 and 3, where an underdeveloped planet gets involved in a fight against a highly advanced pangalactic force with eventual involvement of the Federation. Expect more UP3 protocol stuff. Hopefully the plot will set itself apart from the series, especially after the debacle that was SO4.
My only real complaint is that the game still has that doll-face issue that 4 had. What engine is this game running on again?

For some reason I'm ok with it for Relia. Maybe since her character is a mystery so for all we know she is older than she looks . Or maybe I just cringe at how they might have cast a really bad younger voice for her and am fine with her sounding older than she is.

I really hope the localization isn't done by 8-4 as they have tendencies to change and/or remove lines from the original script in the character dialogues and story narration. I would also would like them to retain the original battle skills names from the Japanese version as many of them are already in English and don't need to be reworded (Canon Blaze to Blazing Canon) or outright renamed (Flash Chariot to Fists of Fury).

The game will have dual voice overs and the game is available this summer but no exact date. I would like them to release Star Ocean: Second Evolution as well since it has been re-released on Japanese PSN. Then Next Star Log will be in April 14.

For anyone who's interested there's one last livestream video on the 30th, the day before Japan's release date. Note sure though what they'll be discussing. |
