More than this show for the past few weeks I'd say. Titan is in a slow portion of its story while that show is crescendoing into what looks to be a bloody finish to its first season.

They didn't show it very well in the anime, but in the manga you'd seriously think she was gonna use her "flesh slicing expertise" on one of them and Ian looked freaked out about that.

Must be the "In" thing kewl kids do now to complain and focus on the negative each week. Saying the word "slow" like they are parrots in training.

Honestly I hope the whiners will just drop the show and make themselves and everyone else here happier.

On a brighter note, I can't get enough of how they direct the music to fit with the scenes, even though we've already heard the tracks from before, they still sound awesome!

Can't wait for the final of the arc next week.

I don`t understand why people has been complaining and whining so much about the recent episodes.....I enjoy pretty much every episodes even though i have finish all the manga chapters.

I'll suggest you guys wait till the AoT ended before you guys pick up the series as there will always be slow episodes that concentrate on character, drama and plot development....not every episode is action-pack. -_-"

This episode deserves at least an 8 and above.

I'm mostly fine cause I know it'll pick back up again, I just accept that it's in a slow portion right now and take it for what it is. Every show needs a slow portion for purposes of reflection on events. The shows still plenty great to me.

I find the pacing fine. The manga also had slow pacing to build up the suspense. It's the way the story is developed.

Seriously, if you don't like it so much, drop the show and stop complaining.

It's not kind of a show you can just drop. People are complaining, because they really like it and don't want it to be messed up. Don't get the wrong idea
But it's only a short set back, i presume. They still have plenty of material to hype it up a bit.

omg.... I don't want to see another losing battle

get your self, EREN!!!! don't do boring things like sitting around while your 'girlfriend' protected you

Thumbs up for Mikasa... as usual, she can't think well if Eren is in danger
defend your boyfriend well.....

Jean really loves to escape a close death, eh? while Connie already saved several times

too slow... I think I just waste my time by watching this episode... hahaha
but it's still a good one because of action-packed battle

The pacing is annoying, but that's only because we are waiting for it every week. It wouldn't be as big of an issue if we were able to see it all in one go. Best thing to do is get a life and forget about SnK for most of the week or longer, then enjoy it when it's available.

Mikasa you have to protect your boyfriend! *Mikasa blushing* made my day

Good episode, far better than the previous ones, so I have no major complains. Surely the last episodes let down the previous excitement. And I don't think it's a problem of pace per se, not for me in any case, it's more about how they manage the slow pace. If well directed a really slow pace could be really intense (Zetsuen no Tempest come to my mind), but here the feeling is more like they are trying to end each episode with a cliffhanger, despite the content, method that causes this dragged/filler feeling. For a minor example, in this episode Eren took a very long nap that ended by chance at the very end of the episode.
They could have woken him up earlier, having even the benefit of shortening Armin's part

I don't get why some folks still don't understand that people don't have to literally like everything in what they watch

Complaining =/= disliking

Also, what i've seen so far in this thread is people criticizing instead of complaining the show.

The response: "Then drop it" gets no one anywhere.
When people critize a show they either want reassurance (It gets much better sometimes later, don't worry!) Or they want a reason to quit it for good (Sorry to say this, but it won't become any better than this in the future)

In my case I wanted reasons to stay in it.

Of course, the thing I was looking forward to the most was delayed until next week. These guys are professionals at dragging things out. Virtually the only exciting thing that happened was a punch in the face.

Makes me glad to see I'm not the only one that has issues with this pacing. During the episodes when they were in boot camp to graduation did I actually feel movement and development. Now it takes 2 or more episodes for something exciting to happen. It just bothers me.

Art and animation were better this episode.

Was an ok episode. It set up things decently for the finale. 6.8/10

Hmm, strange. I also read the manga but I don't feel particularly bothered by the slow pacing. It must be because I'm multi-tasking while watching anime

Yeah, Mikasa getting the girlfriend treatment was the best scene

We're the anime only thread. That's prob a question for the manga-anime comparison thread.

As to the impatience with the criticism, I guess people see it all to often in other threads and have little tolerance of the behavior now.

Now all we need is a passionate sex scene between the two and we're in business.

Mikasa is beautiful, strong, with a sense of honor. But like Eren, she does lack perspective and that's where good ol' Armin comes along. This seems to be Bro Week-- it is strong.

This is a much better episode than the last two. Needs moar Mikasa imo.

Starting to really feel the "indie-ness" of the studio animating this. There was a whole lot of nothing in this episode. I expected at least something to happen, but no, like episode 6, it was filled with flashbacks and reused animation.

At least there's some indication the plot will advance in episode 13.

Jean filler? Seriously?
Come on, what are these guys thinking with these last few episodes? We should really be done this bit by now.

I think they might be having money or staffing issues, to be honest. Getting major NGE TV vibes from the way they use flashbacks and still shots.

Still, even through these issues, the quality of the artwork is consistently high. It's just... dragging on.

They'll probably keep enough eyeballs based on the moe-moe Mikasa shot, though. That I felt was very unlike her character--she's never shown the slightest romantic interest in Eren, and she shouldn't! They've been raised together as siblings from a young age--the Westermarck effect should be in full... effect!
