That seems to be their only option at this rate. Del Rio seems like the likely one for the Raiders based on the most recent movements and Gase seems to be the one the 49ers are gunning for.

Jack Del Rio has just been hired as the new head coach of the Oakland Raiders.

Marcus Mariota will be applying for the 2015 draft.

Edit: Jim Tomsula just announced as the new head coach of the San Francisco 49ers.

I was happy to see Ohio State win (as I'm from Ohio). That good for the College side, now if the Browns can just get hold on through the 4th quarter in their games they will do much better. Drafting Manziel was such a waste of a draft pick

As was the strong opinion once he was released from Denver, John Fox is about to be the new head coach of the Chicago Bears.

What an NFC Championship game!

What a comeback by Seattle!

Like, what the hell - HOW did that actually happen?!?!

Yeah, I heard about the comeback a little while ago. Something like 19-6 and Seattle was down and then they made a touchdown and then did a kick, got the ball, and made another touchdown. All near the end of the game. And then it was 19-22, the Packers kicked the ball and tied, went into overtime, and then Seattle got a touchdown.

That is a recap for anyone reading here who didn't get filled in.

Was 16-0 Green Bay at half time. And it could - and SHOULD - have been bigger.

Russell Wilson also had one of the worst games of his career, throwing 4 INTs - 3 in the 1st half - but he suddenly pulled it together in the final 3 minutes and in overtime.

Marshawn Lynch was utter Beast Mode in the 2nd half - he got the run AND the pass going when nothing was working. I think he reached over 200 yards in total scrimmage by the end of the game. He has to be MVP because man, when Seattle looked utterly screwed, he just knuckled down and started blasting everyone out of the way.

Carroll having faith in Jon Ryan to do that fake punt and lob a TD to get Seattle's first score was genius. Could have been a fatal risk but it was the spark that changed the game.

Wilson takes a major gamble on a 2-point conversion - I've never seen a lob ball take that long yet go undefended.

Bostik spilling that onside kick...man, that is reminiscent of the Kyle Williams blunder that allowed the Giants to beat the 49ers a few years ago in the NFC Championship game.

Wilson finally landed some amazing throws in overtime.

Green Bay...how did they blow that....Rodgers may have thrown 2 INTs but he was doing well in the 1st half, their defense utterly destroyed Seattle until the fake punt happened. They started dropping balls they'd normally catch. Crosby kept landing field goals.

And maybe there's the bit that really kicked Green Bay in the butt. 1 TD, 5 field goals. Seattle, after all the disasters and mistakes - 4 TDs. Green Bay had the chance to make sure they were out of reach but they gave Seattle a lifeline. They took it.

Biggest comeback in a conference championship game in NFL history, the broadcasters claimed. (Previous was Manning and Indy coming from 15 down against New England to go to get their one Superbowl win.)

What a game....

Yeah, Packers deserved to lose that. They left so many points on the field and gave up too many important plays that they could've stopped. I'm disappointed, but it's not like they got screwed like the Lions did at least.

Hopefully the Colts can beat the Patriots, otherwise I may not watch the Super Bowl. If Pats got in, two of my three least favorite teams would get in (not that the Seahawks specifically are a most hated team, but "media fan favorite darling with annoying as hell fair-weather fans" is).

Yeah, looking like it's going to be an awful Super Bowl. Not really looking forward to watching it at all. Not even sure what else I could do, since most places close by 6pm or 7pm on Sundays.

Garry Kubiak has just been confirmed as the new head coach of the Denver Broncos.

Sorry, GDB - he won't be sticking around in Baltimore as OC anymore.

This leaves only Atlanta with a head position to be filled. I daresay that one will be announced after the Superbowl since they seem to want Quinn most.

Yeah, but most Ravens fans expected that to be the case as soon as Fox got fired. The real hurt is that Kyle Shanahan (who's basically Kubiak v2.0) got hired as the OC for the Falcons. And Kubiak is expected to take the QB coach and TE coach with him. Not really sure who else we can get, to be honest. Biggest hope right now is that the Falcons are only expected to hire Kyle, and maybe he'll get in contact with the Ravens now that Kubiak's leaving since he wanted that position last year before settling for the Browns.

Seahawks vs. Patriots in the Super Bowl. Great defense vs. great offense. I really hope it's not a repeat of last years. I'm really surprised the Packers blew that game.

Honestly, I want the Patriots to win this year out of spite as much as my fandom. The Patriots haters have just gotten so obnoxious, pig-headed, and despicably annoying. They deserve whatever grief comes to them by Brady and Belichick's continued success. Love seeing Brady shattering all the post season records too.

Well, you just got Marc Trestman as the new OC for Baltimore. That's a decent outcome.

Yeah, it could end up pretty damned good. Lot of people act like he's the sole reason Chicago sucked, but they did amazing in 2013. From a statistical standpoint, at least. The problem this year was discipline (and a shitty defense). That won't be a problem when he's not the HC.

Also, NFL found 11 of 12 Patriots footballs under-inflated.

Time to make an extreme example, Goodell. Go easy after the Rice incident, especially with Spygate in their past, and it could be your job.

Patriots seem to be getting desperate for a super bowl win at this point. Those weird formations in the Ravens game, the deflated balls in the Indy game. almost seems like they are at the point that they just don't care how they win so long as they win even if it means bending and breaking rules to do so.

The formation against the Ravens was perfectly legal. If the Ravens aren't able to follow the refs orders (#34 is ineligible. DO NOT COVER #34) it isn't the Patriots problem. What's next, Green Bay complaining about the Seahawks cheating with their fake FG? The deflated balls, still no evidence that it was deliberately done by the team. Considering the temperature difference before kickoff inside and outside during the game there may be a simple reason: physics. But anyway, Aaron Rodgers admits that he likes to inflate the ball past the rule limit. Nobody cares. The Vikings heat up the balls at the sidelines which is forbidden. Nobody cares. But uhh, once the big bad Patriots have something to do with it, they are not only guilty until proven innocent, but also evil for doing so.

It is if the ball is snapped IMMEDIATELY after, or even before, the ref is able to announce who is and isn't eligible. There's supposed to be time between the announcement and the snap, which the Ravens did not receive. Notice how after Harbaugh brought it to the refs' attention, that bullshit stopped? The refs made sure they were able to announce the eligibility well enough before the snap from then on.

So physicals makes 11 out of 12 of the Patriots balls deflate, and 0 out of 12 of the Colts balls deflate? And on average, no more than 1-2 balls per game for any other game on average, since more than 2 balls deflating is considered suspicious activity?

Sorry, that isn't physics. That's tampering. You don't have 92% of one team's balls deflate and 0% of the other's, when they're under the same conditions, and not have something deliberately causing it.

Because inflating balls doesn't help anyone but kickers, who use different balls from the rest of the game. Overinflating actually makes the ball hard to grip, so by any normal standard he's putting a handicap on himself, not getting an advantage.
