Ninja Kamui

From Deadline's article today:

Quote:
Ahead of Warner Bros. Discovery’s Upfronts presentation on Wednesday, Adult Swim revealed the official greenlights for Rick and Morty: The Anime from Tower of God helmer Takashi Sano and Ninja Kamui from Jujutsu Kaisen’s Sunghoo Park. The series orders come as Adult Swim continues to build its anime portfolio, which currently includes the series adaptation of Junji Ito’s Uzumaki, Blade Runner, Black Lotus and more. The two newly-ordered series are in production and will premiere on Adult Swim and HBO Max.

First episode dropped yesterday. Pretty much animated Ninja Scroll-esque John Wick. Flashy action scenes and great insert music. Nice animation, as one would expect. Would probably watch if I still had cable, lol.

Thought this series would be popular since Park is directing it after leaving MAPPA but I am only the third commenter....

Already the first fight scene reminded me of the opening of God of Highschool but without dubstep but blood instead. They got one of the most cliche Kenjiro Tsuda characters. He always voices a middleaged miserable badass guy. Still, his designs reminds me more to Hei from Darker than Black's second season with a bit of futuristic aesthetics. Gotta say I liked more the fights coreography of the second episode more than the first episode.

Caught up. Yeah. With the cops' drama and organization it really feels like Darker than Black except Hei actually worked for the organization until the climax.

Seems Hbo Max/Max has access to all of Ninja Kamui's episodes. Still, it sure is weird the transition the series is ongoing. It went from Darker than Black to Metal Gear Rising. We finally get a title drop in the latest episode but I wonder about the length of the series.

No idea how to feel about the kamui suits. They feel way big and the design feels a bit edgy especially with the protagonist's colors. Still, I'm glad the redhaired girl wasn't murdered by that creepy dude. Also... another cliffhanger when they are about to say something important

I can't believe I enjoyed the fist fight between the two cops more than the two rivals....

That was the ending? It sure felt rushed. They put the credits at the same time our protagonist is saying his final speech. Also, it's kinda hilarious that despite the series being as violent as it can, they can't show the main character naked during symbolic scenes and instead it feels like a commercial of blue underwear.
