That was one of the reasons I totally dislike the OAVs, the humor was trivial at best for me, and I found it totally pointless.

I wonder about the direction of plot. Although the premise seems humorous the manga is actually sci-fi action with serious plots (like the mangaka's previous work Patlabour). The anime will probably go with original plots. ie we wont get to see Birdy's step dad in action.

After watching the first subbed episode, I really really like this one! I am so in love with the way shinon talks (however you spell it), its so cute. I think that most people who are watching this understand so much more than I do at the time. Its a new world for me, so I'm enjoying the ride! Well birdy is so bad ass, I can see why someone was wondering if she will overpower all her opponents... wow... she is so strong and sexy... I'm glad I am watching this one

But just like everyone else said the animation is pretty good, but op and ed are nothing special, in my opinion.

I just watched the first episode of this new series. I watched the original OVA so long ago, I barely remember it. In truth, I decided not to re-watch to refresh my memory because I wanted to go into this with a clean slate. It was really good. I didn't think I would like it 'cause I remembered not really caring for the original, but this turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I'm looking forward to the next episode!

Ep 2 was great. While the animation is obviously lower in quality (well, more in the action, the designs are consistent) it was just as amusing and fun.

So, remake with a younger partner. I wasn't disappointed. Animation was top and the music was hip. Nothing to complain about so far.

Well i've read all the raws of birdy right up to the current chapter. The only chapters i've read in english though are the first two, so here's hoping that the anime's popularity gets people to scanlate the manga in the same way soul eater's anime got more people to scanlate it's manga.

They even show his body to him - not pretty Also looks like Tsutomu's really going to have to live a double life too... And at the end, Giga gets eaten. joshualimm Member Join Date: Aug 2006	watched episode 2, and I thought it was great. However, Spoiler for Episode 2: I feel kinda bad for Nakasugi (voiced by Maaya Sakamoto). Even though she's rarely had any screen time, and is a mere bystander... I hope she won't turn into an antagonist, or at the very least, I hope she'll get a happy ending. As for Senkawa Spoiler: We know that Birdy leads a double life... so throw in Senkawa, and wouldn't that make him (and birdy) leading triple lives? For some reason it just seems to hit all the right cords for me and mixed with action kicking scenes and decent quality, this series is so far WINS! I find the story pretty interesting with a nice twist...it's not every day you get a main character inside another main character's body who is so unappreciative of being inside a hot chick coughSenkawayouwimp* but putting that asides I just love Birdy's character. She is a mixture of hot and cuteness with a fun accent to boot (especially living as shion). I can see this series being filled with monster of the week type characters but that doesn't bother me much and as long as it stays reletively fresh I think I can swallow it. Nakasugi is a strange case too...you know that something is wrong when she looks good as new after that crash (like she didn't even need crutches). I bet whatever Giga was after is inside of her.
