The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander. It's an interesting new look at race relations at a time where we're "officially" past that.

I think personal bias (at the very minimum) will always exist in that subject.

Yes, that's true. However, the book describes how we still have a systematic oppression of minority groups using otherwise colorblind laws and policies, reinforced by racial and social stereotypes, but codified through the socioeconomic disadvantages most minority groups find themselves having. The book essentially calls for a new Civil Rights Movement to combat the changing system of control.

Just finnished J L Bourne - Day By Day Armageddon: Beyond Exile. Really liked it!

The next one looks like it could be interesting.

"Dance, Dance, Dance" by Murakami. Interesting book. Weird but interesting.

How was World War Z like? I have it on my to-read list but was a bit put off by the second half of the zombie survival guide. While the guide itself was fun I wasn't too captivated by the small stories at the end so I don't know what to expect from that second book.

WWZ is composed, almost entirely, of small stories. I liked it, but I haven't read the survival guide so I have nothing to compare it to. Barnes and Noble has an ebook preview if you wanna check it out first....

Just wolfed down Richard Dawkins' The God Delusion, and before that, The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution. I've been meaning to read him for a while, and I've finally had time to make good on it.

I just finished reading "The Lunatic Express" about a guy who decided to take all of the most crowed and dangerous buses, trains, planes, and boats from all around the word.
Not exactly my cup of tea, but fun to read about.

There's another book out? Sheesh, I'm only half way through MAX.

As for me, I'm currently reading a book I found for free on the Kindle Store written by Bryan Davis called Eternity's Edge. Pretty good read so far.
I'm not 100% sure what's going on in the storyline so far, but it has to do with interdimentional travel and lots of awesome fight sequences.

Then I guess it's the same as the second half of the Guide which consists precisely of small stories.

Anyway I'm not in North America so I can't really go to a Barnes and Noble but I'll check if there's a kindle sample or something.

Finished I,Robot by Isaac Asimov. Great book and the plot has absolutely nothing to do with the movie with the same name btw.

Finished Atom by Lawrence M. Krauss. Very good book. Little bit outdated on the ultimate fate of the universe part, but it's nothing major.

Basically the book is the story of a single oxygen atom from the big bang 'till the end of the universe. Of course, the atom takes part in some exciting events, such as the final moments of a star and development of life on Earth.

Reading this was a very humbling experience.

Up next: Something about particle physics, or maybe Richard Feynman's QED.
