See, you made a perfectly good argument there for why I would never want to "fill it in." It's a conversation I've had repeatedly with deathcurse over the pointlessness of sex scenes in romance novels. A lemon fic is there for two reasons: to "appeal to the prurient interest," as the saying goes, and to make points about the characters which are about or centered on the sexual matters. The fic you've described there is one in which an explicit depiction of the sex would add nothing to it and probably get in the way of enjoying the character moments. It's all about Vivio and Lutecia finally putting the past behind them--the long wait for Vivio to mature both physically and emotionally, and the struggle for Lutecia to face up to her own past and come to terms with who she really is, and for Vivio to accept that person. It's the climax of a loving relationship that we've seen building through three years of stories, not of a series of sexual tension that's been inevitably leading to the bedroom.
I am planning to write the morning after, if it helps at all.
I am planning to write the morning after, if it helps at all.
It helps make my point about the character-driven and romance-driven nature of the fic. See, from the way you describe it, I really want to read the fic, but nothing about what you say makes me eager to see Tab A (or its equivalent) inserted into Slot B.

I wouldn't say that for most situations, but I do feel that to be the case for written sex scenes. It's often best to leave them up to the imagination whenever possible, because it's almost impossible to do them as well with words as the reader can in their head with images.

I thought you said here that you were planning on writing this story "the morning after", as in tomorrow morning, and I got all excited. Then I re-read and realized what you really meant .
Aww, all this talk means that I should probably dust off my ViCia "Jailbait Wait" story too, to join in the fun?
Now, now. Don't give the readers that much credit. A good, well descripted, funny/sweet bondage closet scene while a training session wiht magical binds goes haywire...
Reinforce frowned and shook her head. The Mazoku that had attacked her after dealing with that one major problem hadn't been too powerful, but considering the amount of evil that she had felt until just this moment, she had felt it was better to not be in contact with anyone until she felt mostly okay.
"...force? Reinforce, can you hear me?"
"Admiral Leti, yes, I hear you, what is it?" Reinforce replied, her mental voice was cold and dark.
"Listen, Shabranigdo's not the only force on the field who's really strong, there's someone named Gaav on the field and even if our forces beat him, they'll be too worn out to deal with Shabranigdo."
"What should I do about it?"
"Lina's given me a plan on how to delay him. But, if it fails..."
"I will likely die." Reinforce nodded, narrowing her eyes. "Very well, what is her plan?"
When Leti told her the plan, Reinforce sweat-dropped. She didn't sweat-drop very often, but found that anything that she heard from the Takamachi family would often have her sweat-dropping. "That is..."
"I know, but Lina said that if it works, it'll buy you some time, if it fails, get out of there."
Reinforce nodded as she cut communication off and turned to look at Shabranigdo as he started to move towards Seiryuun. "...I really hope this plan works."
(---)
Up in the ship...
Leti looked at Lina, who was glowing gold and black, as was her daughter. "Are you sure that plan will work?"
"It's the best chance we have at the moment. A Mazoku is ruled by its Ego. If they think they're inferior, they will be." Lina's voice was twisted, distorted. "It won't be too much, however, for someone of Shabranigdo's level, but anything that can buy even a few minutes time for the rest of them is better than nothing."
"Can they win?"
"If Shabranigdo's purged his human soul, then no one on the planet can defeat him."
Leti gulped and looked at the time again.
For some reason, she had the feeling that this battle was going to come down to the wire.

Shabranigdo looked at Seiryuun and let out a yell before his aura erupted around him and rushed towards the city. As it washed over the city, he chuckled as he felt the fear and terror from the people inside. 'Such delicious emotions.' It had been far too long since he had felt them in such quantities. Chuckling, he took a step forward and grinned as he felt the land crack and fall apart under his feet. "Yes..." Opening his palm, a large beam of energy rushed out towards Seiryuun, destroying the wall and the people behind it with ease. He took a few more steps forward, before stopping in confusion.
Just behind the wall was a green barrier and a young male human with blond hair and a scarred up cheek holding out a hand and glaring at him. "You will not pass."
Shabranigdo chuckled before opening his mouth and firing a powerful Black magic blast at the barrier. He was slightly amused when the barrier held, despite the power he just launched at it. "Impressive defenses. Even most Mazoku don't have barriers that strong." When a green circle appeared under the boy's feet, Shabranigdo narrowed his eyes before they flashed and the circle disappeared. "Now, now, no trying to attack."
Shabranigdo blinked as he felt a tremendous force of energy. Turning to look, he frowned, wondering just what could create energy that was that incredible. "Gorun... Nova?" He swore that he felt that energy over there, but the other was one he couldn't place. He turned and frowned as the boy was no longer around. Oh well, if he wasn't going to be there at first, he could die later.
"Elmekia Flame!" Several voices yelled out at once, the Astral magic lashing out at him.
"Pathetic." Shabranigdo growled as the energies were disrupted by his aura. "Come on, if you can't do better than that, then burn under a deluge of lava!" With a wave of his hand, the ground, trees, grass and even the water just North of Seiryuun melted and turned into lava that rolled towards the proud city.
"Freeze Arrow!" The same mages called again, firing several freezing blasts of energy at the oncoming torrent.
"That's not enough." Shabranigdo chuckled before blinking as a tall woman with silver hair, red eyes, and a form-fitting black body suit flew up and held up her hand, a large block of ice appearing above her head.
"Atem Des Eises." The woman intoned and several ice beams lashed out, hitting the lava and instantly cooling it.
"Interesting." Shabranigdo said as he stepped on the newly cooled lava. "And you are?"
"Reinforce Yagami." Her eyes narrowed and she shook her head. She just hoped this crazy plan worked.
"I see." Shabranigdo chuckled and held up his hand, a glowing sphere of energy forming there as it crackled with power. "I'll remember that name."
"I see, so you're the boss of all Mazoku, and for all that power, you're afraid of us." Reinforce said softly and blinked as the ball of energy disappeared.
"What?" Shabranigdo's voice was curious.
"You send several Mazoku who are far more powerful than the rest of the drabble that we've been fighting, several on our side end up injured or dead because of it. Are you so afraid of us that you cannot fight us without us being in a state of being unable to fight back?"
"You're saying that if you had time to recover, you could put up a better fight?" Shabranigdo narrowed his eyes. "Very well then. I will give you enough to heal your wounded, but I shall crush any who attack me."
"Give us five minutes." Reinforce said as she looked at him. Internally, she was just glad that she used that forbidden spell a little while ago, it made it easy to put up a brave front.
"Take your time, it won't matter in the end." Shabranigdo chuckled as Reinforce flew into the city.
'I can't believe that plan worked.' Reinforce thought to herself.

Vita frowned as she looked out at the West side of Seiryuun. She would have gone to help the others on the East side, but something had her worried about this side. Floating through the air, her eyes widened as she saw someone leaning against a rather destroyed tree. "Signum!" She yelled as she rushed down to the downed knight. "You're alive, aren't you?" She touched Signum's shoulder and ducked as Signum suddenly rolled to her feet and swung Laevantein right at where her neck was a moment ago. "It's me!" Vita grabbed Signum's arm and gasped at how easy it was for her to move Signum's arm into a less aggressive pose. "Are you..?"
She looked at Signum's eyes and paled at how unfocused Signum's eyes were. When Signum suddenly fell down to her knees, slumping, Vita grabbed her and flew back to the recovery area. "Dammit, what happened?" She blinked as she heard Laevantein ping. "Who did this to her? Was it one of those super powered Mazoku that attacked?"
"Ja."
Vita grimaced and blinked as she felt Signum starting to go limp. "Hey! Don't you dare... Don't you dare die on me!" Vita did the only thing she could think of in that situation.
She jammed an elbow into Signum's bloodied side.
"GAH!" Signum's eyes snapped open and she stared at Vita. "Are you trying to kill me?"
Vita let out a breath of relief as she touched down near the medical staff. "Shamal!" She called out, causing the blonde to look up from where she was healing Hayate. "Help her!" Vita was dragging Signum, who was starting to fall out of consciousness again.
Sylphiel, who was near Shamal, nodded to one of the healers, who took over healing Fate, so she could grab Signum from Vita. "Leave her to me."
Vita nodded, thankful as Signum was being laid down on one of the tables and healing magic started to flow into her body. Closing her eyes, she just hoped that they could deal with things quickly.
Lol... That was... uh... Unexpected? Seriously, I gotta stop trying to second guess anything in this fic. Geez.
Omitting a sex scene wouldn't be a Noodle Incident since we know what happened in general terms. An actual Noodle Incident is more like what I did in Three's Company:
"Remember last year's Halloween party?"
"… At least everyone kept their clothes on that time."
‘Power level has dropped back to 1.5 million points…’
If a stranger were to look at Yuuno Scrya right now, they would assume that all of his concentration was being used to maintain the barrier while the trial went on below. However, only a portion of his mind was staying focused on the barrier while the rest of his mental capacity was aimed at analyzing the data feedback.
‘Her power spikes only when she goes on the attack. She’s got good control over her body processes to maximize energy usage and efficiency.’ He paused for a moment. ‘Or perhaps it’s her device that’s doing that for her?’
It was just another question to add to the list. Honestly, there were way too many mysteries that surrounded this woman. Until he got a few things cleared up and a proper blood test to confirm her genetic identity, it was going to be difficult to answer the one question that burned on his mind… that probably burned on everyone’s mind.
Was this woman the genuine Sankt Kaiser? Is she truly Olivie Segbrecht?
The immediate answer that would pop up in anyone’s mind is a definite no. She was reported to have died during the end of the Unification Wars almost a century ago. So the most likely explanation, based on the fact that she’s dead, was that she’s one of the earlier clones born out of Project F. Given that the experiment had spanned for decades, it was the only explanation that made sense to allow her to grow up to this age naturally, master her abilities and her device, an actual authentic and unusual one from the time of Belka. But there was a problem with that theory.
When the Unification War ended, the Church’s predecessor took possession of Olivie’s personal items that survived the last climactic battle that claimed the Hegemon’s home and most of his world. They had intended to look after the trinkets for safe keeping but somehow, those trinkets ended up playing a key part in forming the Church.
The essays that dictated how she perceived life and acceptable behaviour had served as their scriptures. An old garment with a sample of her blood served as a revered holy artifact until it was stolen in 0065. If one wanted to get a genetic sample of the last Kaiser, getting that shroud would be the only way to do it aside from looking through the Saint’s Cradle itself (which would be a long and tedious task). When the Cradle had been destroyed in September of 0075 that meant that no more clones of the Kaiser’s bloodline can be created as Vivio was safe in the care of the Bureau and the Church.
So the clone theory had a few holes. He accepted that and filed that away for further study while considering a new theory, based on the fact that she somehow survived the end of the War.
The last known witness to her whereabouts was Ingvalt if the memoirs were correct. He had tried to stop her from sacrificing herself to end the Cradle’s rampage across worlds. Apparently, someone else had managed to put an end to things while something happened to Olivie that allowed her to live in this time, only a few years older than her last recorded appearance.
‘Perhaps she had fought a battle and ended up in some sort of temporal suspension as a side effect of the magic used by her enemies?’ It seemed a very plausible explanation although he would have thought that she would have been stuck on Shutra and lost forever in her frozen state.
“Hi, Yuuno-kun!”
“Hi, Nanoha,” replied the Librarian automatically before going back to his theorizing and shielding tasks. ‘Did someone move her frozen body to Vaizen where she eventually became free, found that orphan boy and became his guar-’
Time out for a second. Stop with the theorizing and direct your sight towards your love interest/childhood friend who’s pressing her face against the observation window.
Yuuno’s subconscious finally got him out of his deep academic state of mind and back to reality. “Nanoha, what are you doing here?”
“Heard about this combat test going on from Subaru and Touma-kun and we all came here together to observe!” She hummed in delight as she felt the light vibrations on her skin from the glass. “They must be giving it maximum effort in there and having a lot of fun!”
‘Hayate, when was she allowed in? And are you sure this is something she should know about immediately? She’s going to want answers that we can’t give right now!’
‘I know that,’ was the tired telepathic answer that came from the Lieutenant Colonel. ‘But considering who’s really in there and how gossip can spread like wildfire on the base, I figure it’s best to get her in the loop now.’
‘I guess you have a point…’ He could only imagine what kind of insanity could have come up all due to misunderstandings on Nanoha’s part.
Speaking of Nanoha, she turned around to face Hayate. “So where is this person who’s fighting Signum? And can I get next fight afterwards?”
“You’re gonna get your butt kicked. Nothing personal though,” said Touma.
“Touma, don’t say stuff like that!” Subaru laughed nervously as all other eyes turned towards him for a moment.
Nanoha’s smile still remined on her face. “Well, I won’t lose easily! I have a few tricks up my sleeve too. Now, can I get a turn in later?”
“O-oi! Just what are you thinking, you dummy?!” exclaimed Vita.
“Ah, I see. You saw that fighter first so you want dibs. Am I right, Vita-chan?”
The Knight of the Iron Hammer just twitched at the other woman’s behaviour. “Good grief, you’re such a kid! Stop getting the wrong idea!”
“Nyahaha…” The vibrations on the glass stopped as the combatants down below broke apart after their latest clash. It also allowed for Nanoha to get a good look at who was facing Signum while there was a lull in the fighting.
The Knight herself was on the left side, the shoulder sections of her outer Knight’s clothing rather tattered. She was breathing a bit harder than usual, most likely due to just how strong her opponent was.
And on the right… was a blue clad woman in an armour set and blue garments. The blue fabric was singed, probably a result of this warrior blocking Signum’s flames earlier. She took her time in catching her breath as well while her mismatched eyes kept focused on the enemy ahead.
Those mismatched eyes that were very familiar to Nanoha by now and she felt herself go pale. “That’s…!”
“Before you jump to any conclusions Nanoha-san, please make sure you understand this key fact,” said Carim calmly. “That is not your daughter down there. Otto had contacted me earlier, confirming that she has picked up your child and is on her way here.”
“Then what…?”
Hayate struggled for a quick explanation of the woman’s identity. “If anything, I guess we can call her Vivio’s biological mom?”
Nanoha just stared. “… …”
“It is technically true,” said Yuuno to break the awkward silence. “Honestly, with the feedback of combat data I’ve been getting, it feels like the theory of her being the original Olivie Segbrecht is gaining a bit more weight. Speed, reaction time, attack pattern strategy… all that could only be developed through many years of training.”
While that sank into the heads of the others, Touma voiced a different question. “Wait a sec… now I have a sister too?”
“If you’re the son of Her Majesty, then I guess she would count as your sister.” Carim paused for a moment. “Or would she be like an Aunt?”
“Huh?”
“It’s… complicated. But we’ll explain everything to you and your mother once Vivio gets here,” promised the Saint Church Director. Hopefully by the time they were ready for that conversation, she could figure out just where those three stood in the Belkan Royal Family Hierarchy and explain things accordingly.
