I just read Generation Kill by Evan Wright. Very intriguing, a non-fiction book chronicling a reporter who embeds with the 1st recon unit in the USMC during the first few weeks of Operation Iraqi Freedom. It focuses less on battles than the Marines and discusses the interactions they have with each other and their inner battles that they have within themselves with their situation. I rate it A-.

It's "and the Pendulum." Pendulum in this case is a huge swinging piece of spiked iron slowly coming down at the narrator, pushing him closer and closer to the rat-infested pit. He was being forced to choose between two gruesome deaths, hence the name.

Spoiler for ending:

Yeah I know how its spelled, Spell check didn't help me.
I thought it was just a huge blade coming down slowly (In the illustrations the blade wasn't even that big.)

I just read Eyes Like Stars, it's a new book that just came out this month, and I thought I wouldn't like it but I actually did. It's fiction, and about a girl who lives in a theater, it's very surreal I felt like I was in a dream the whole time. I recommend it
