ANN confirms now. I forgot about the date. It's apparently 2016.

Episode 1:
Good start so far, the OP song works fine imo for the series. The comedy is funny so far imo, especially with how Gion interacted with others. Animation quality looks decent by Madhouse. They didn't get much into the rugby yet but seeing as it's a 2-cour, they have plenty of time to. I haven't read too much into the manga so pretty curious to see how the rest of the episodes will play out. There's some emotions already so I also expect more drama to build up between classmates and rugby. Looking forward to more.

Everything Madhouse touches is usually gold in the production department. Even that quick clip shows me everything I need to know...Definitely checking this out, hopefully it becomes my new sports anime...Been looking for something good since Ace of Diamond and Kuruko Bball...

TIL rugby = power fantasy for frustrated guys with complexes.
Anyway, the episode was nice, although I'm not quite sold on the show so far... well, no, more precisely I'm not quite sold on the story and the characters, because the visuals are a different thing. *cough*beefcake*cough* I guess we'll see what the cast makes of itself when everyone is together and we see them interact. Just, Gion... please stop screaming. Please. By the way, what is that little black garter thing they're wearing as part of the rugby uniform? I had an impression they were wearing some sort of underpants or something, but apparently no, it's a separate garter-like thingie. |

Gonna be fun watching this. I think most American's would like this sports anime, however those of us who lived under the Commonwealth (and parts of Europe) will most likely get what's going on with all the plays and rules.
Still I'm getting nostalgic watching this, having played rugby during high-school. Garter like thing? Please show me.

Episode 1
So Edward Elric is going to play rugby here despite knowing absolutely nothing about rugby or its rules. He doesn't even know how a rugby ball looks like. Lol he picks a fight with everyone who calls him short, even the strongest guy on the team which sees him getting tackled and thrown away. And the big guy who looks scary but is pretty timid also plays rugby but he once dislocated his friend's shoulder and they went on to lose the finals. It wasn't his fault though. It's just that this is the kind of game rugby is. Everyone is playing at their own risk knowing well that they can get a lot of things broken and it'll hurt like hell. The big guy shouldn't blame himself for what happened. And now Gion is looking to tackle someone for the first time. This was a pretty ok episode. The visuals were good. This looked purely Madhouse stuff. I wonder what TMS did here because apart from making stuff look crappie I don't think they can do anything else here. I'll check out a couple more episodes. Gion wasn't really an interesting character nor was that big guy but maybe the dudes smashing each other to the ground will keep me in here. |

Aw, poor tree trunk. Can't read his romantic novels in peace and has to tackle little boys. xD
"WHO ARE YOU CALLING LITTLE BOY?!?!" Somebody got an aggro problem. I like this gentle giant and aggro chibi relationship already, this rugby anime could be plenty of fun to watch.
