The screening. My showing starts at 9:30pm, meaning I'll be getting out around 1:30-1:45am, haha

I really want to go to the screening in Manhattan tomorrow, but since I'm a closet otaku I am feeling conflicted about showing up at the theater for a magical girl anime. If this was a mecha or sports anime I can definitely buy a ticket and walk in there but for madoka magica.....hrmm
Anyone in the same boat? or am I just a complete wuss?

Well yes and no. Just go in and get a ticket and wear a Kyubey mask.

If there are no friends to see you, just go in.

Nobody's going to care, I dunno why anyone would be embarrassed. Seriously, people don't give a crap what you do.

People who are going there are people like you I would imagine. No need to be embarrassed.

Umm yeah, that's nothing new. I think we already knew that stuff and mostly what they complained about already showed in the trailers.

There's just something about a 30 year old dude watching a magical girl anime that doesn't sit right with my ego. But you guys are right, Madoka Magica is a damn good story and nobody should be embarrassed about enjoying it.
now...where do I find one of those kyubei masks

The odds of anyone you know being there anyway are so slim too.. they're in independent theatres.

Good way to overcome it is to just get out there and get it done. You'll come to realize that people really don't care that much about what people they don't know are doing, plus you'll have no connections to them anyways, so it doesn't matter.

Either way, everyone going to this will be going with a want to watch the exact same content, so unless they're planning to shame everyone, you have no worries. Just put on your coolest anime shirt and chill in your seat like a badass. People will actually view you in a better light if you're not overly uncomfortable with your own self. G'luck!
