@illu The font looks better in second version imo.
@Green² Simple and effective Though you can add some more effects imo.

I kinda like the stroke effect I changed the color...

Thanks for all the comments and the C&C truly appreciated it, now that I'm running out of time, please make a C&C on this one...

It's a new render though, cleaned the edges though I don't know if the font is valid...

@ Patchy, there's a white spot on the left side ( the one on the border) than I would suggest to remove. As for the text, the ''A'' and the ''F' could be easier to read.

I prefer the first image, to be honest.

It looks amazing but the text doesn't really match up to everything else.

Great! Seconding about the glow dust at the sides and the text, though. The dust is also making it too busy and taking away from the focal. Maybe you can show a bit less bg so we can focus more on the girl?

One of these will be my final, I think - first or second? (I think I'll probably stick to the first)

Defiantly the first. It matches better with the image.

First is better. You're pretty much good Halad as far as things go; not much left to tinker with or change unless you're unsatisfied with a major part of it.

Patchy: Yeah, text doesn't look like it fits Don't use a stencil font Try some basic san serif or serif fonts and see what you can do with them

it looks amazing. but you should delete the white glows on both sides to connect the gradient

Using the glow is better IMO
Strokes aren't suitable for that kind (script style?) of font. a thin one would make the letters jaggy, and a bold one will "eat" the letters

I think the placement should be a bit more to the left, and you might want try these color for the text:

56416c
and/or
be498f

or anything around those color ranges. Just paste the codes to the "#" box when you're selecting a color.

Reducing the render a bit would be better IMO, but that's just my preference. Also agreed with the others, you could use some more decorations. As for the text, I think a "soft" font style and color would be more suitable to spring theme. To make a start, you could pick the text color from her hair or the hat's ribbon

Everyone's got some mad Photoshop skills.

And bah, with the tiny amounts of time I've been getting to look at mine, I can't even produce something that fully satisfies me. Well, I changed up the render and worked a little into the side. As always, I appreciate any C&C, but I don't even know how much more time I have before the deadline to actually work on this. :s

You should try blending Hina more into the background. Plus the blurred trees to your left and the defined plants in the right don't really go well if you look at it as a whole.

Thanks, I sure as hell ain't satisfied with this one either, to be brutally honest against myself.

I'm gonna play around with it more, but to be honest, I know nothing about blending. xD

I see that this character also graces the header for your WordPress blog.
Add some blur to the decorations on the right, and show a bit more of Hina('s body) here.
She kinda looks a like floating head at the moment...

A rudimentary way of blending the character with the background (this one I have a strong tendency of using), is to use a large outer glow.
You can try out "Refine Edge" as well: start off with any of the Marquee tools selected (shortcut: M). Ctrl-click on the layer (or rather, layer thumbnail) that has your character on it- you should see crawling ants around your cutout, and "Load Selection" should appear in the history pane. Below the title bar, you should see a "Refine Edge..." button become available. Play around with some of the settings in there, and make sure your output is set to "Layer Mask" or "New Layer with Layer Mask".

Hina's hair colour always fascinates me, so I love making stuff of her in front of pink flowers.

Thanks for the tips, I'll definitely be sure to try them out. An odd thing actually happened today: I was playing around with "Refine Edge", no problem. Then all of sudden, I could access the menu and play around with it, but it wouldn't confirm. No changes I made would stay changed after I hit the OK button. Not really sure why it does that, to be honest.

Still, time to play around.

Are you sure? Perhaps the output was set to "Selection", which just shrinks the crawling ants to the area you desired? "Selection" is the default output option, and I happen to have done that accidentally a few times.

Well would you look at that, it WAS set to "Selection". I swear I didn't even touch that, but looks like I might have accidentally done so somewhere. Many thanks, I'm going to try again.

(EDIT): Well, it does look a little bit better. Don't really know what to think at this point, except for the fact that I need to add Photoshop to my list of things to actually learn.
