That and the many priceless comments of Shepard's companions, I'm looking for the most. I hope there'll be lots of opportunities for that stuff coupled with other NPCs' interactions, since devs said ME3 is going to be more humorous than ME2 was.

Ha, that alone in itself is pretty funny. Considering what's happening to the galaxy in this one.

Well. I'm not an engineer, I'll give you that.

But when I hear "hundred thousand years old" I'm thinking about advanced nanotechnology that doesn't even have a hint of machinery in them

Something like Vorlons or Shadow from Babylon 5

Or at-least synthetic muscle fiber like the reaper larva

when I see that picture of the reaper what goes in my head is "oooh. I can see the polycaps in this one. When can I expect my Master Grade Reaper model kit?"

Yeah, most people who aren't engineers would think of something like that. Nanotech manufacturing ("one atom at a time" etc) is very bad/slow/inefficient for making things that are big, especially on the scale of the Reapers.

Nanotech is good (in sci-fi) for medical stuff and small computer stuff, but not good at all for making gigantic starships.

Edit: Shepard is the "unfunny" kind of funny. She's funny like Batman is funny. She's not the type to crack jokes and make snide remarks when the whole world is ending around her.

C'mon, if canon!marketing!Shepard absolutely has to be male, then... why not make him black? Or Asian, or... something other than Extremely Generic White Male Space Marine?

Ashley is about as dull as watching paint dry. She may also be a gigantic racist, but yeah. Boring.

It's funny. In ME1, I spent a LOT of time trying to make my Shepard look good. Same with my Warden in DA Origins.

In ME2, it only took a few minutes of tweaking before I found a look I liked.

With DA2, I don't know why, but I just love the default female Hawke. I can't disconnect Hawke from that appearance now, and so I always end up playing with the default face.

It's pretty much a given now that female!troll!Hawke is my favorite Bioware protagonist, period. I cannot accurately express my joy at the sheer amount of trolling she does to pretty much every NPC and voiced villain in the entire game.

Edit: But it's the Gamebryo games I always end up spending literally hours trying to make the face look at least decent, and eventually failing and giving up out of disgust. I modded Oblivion, FO3 and FONV just so I could create a character that didn't look like the end result of two alley cats having sex on a keyboard while Poser was open on the computer.
