I can only recall that Voids vary from each person's personality. Even so, I like this idea a lot and think that just might be it. That and/or he found out how to utilize another function to it such as flying in the OP. We can also see Shu and Gai having it out in the preview, likely due to Shu getting pissed off at the orders supposedly given to Inori by Gai.

For another theory, Gai seems to be superhuman in his ability to move. Since we have witnessed Inori do incredible things, it could be a case of taking her blood in order to keep those abilities.

Finally the series is moving into it's own story. Not much to say, character development was good. I feel this episode should have come much much sooner then this. Let's hope it keeps this pace.

Shu is still somewhat of a coward, naive, and acts like a normal teenage boy whose been jilted, but will do what he needs to when the time calls for it. I'm not a fan of a complete 180 character change in only an episode or two so this pace is fine...
I wonder if he would have clicked that pen if he had it right after he found out Inori lied to him and watched her go into Gai's room... Seems like the new guy Kido knows that Shu is not 100 percent with them, or maybe he's referring to something else I suppose... Ditch the emotionless chick who manipulated you and go for the more adorable Ayase. Well to be fair I don't think Inori was completely acting all the time when she was around Shu. The last episode proved that... |

What I find weird about this show is that Shuu has to actually join them first in order to understand. Neither Ayase nor Arga bothered to explain just why they follow Gai and what makes him special. Why? It's really frustrating how they're not giving the answers that should be given from start.
Kinda winced at Shu saying such a stupid patronising thing to Aayse but I also winced at Ayase responding violently. Shuu going through all the training incompetantly was kinda expected I guess . The writers obviously did it to showcase just how hardcore Funeral Parlor is, but seriously does army training really involve wearing the guy down psychologically by making them look incompetant in everything? I would've just given up... It's revealed Inori has a rather interesting relationship with Gai but we all knew it was never anything even remotely sexual and it turns out it ain't. Shame. They could've gone somewhere with that but now it just seems like "pointless misunderstanding" drama just tacked on for the sake of it. I was kinda hoping that Shuu would have the plan of using Arga's void from the beginning but it just looks like he winged it and was insanely lucky to get the perfect void for the job. In any case, just how was he meant to pass the test without using the void, anyway? I did however like the poetic irony of Shuu getting the pen back. That was a good touch. Then the murderer waltzes in and it looks like no one actually likes him. I wonder why they put up with him then. I'm guessing he must have some very important use, so it'll be interesting to see if the writers will make use of this and have the guy do some seriously bad things that has genuine plot affecting consequences. Kinda reminds me off the rather questionable things some of the Libyan rebels have done recently in their revolution. And what's this? A cliffhanger? Not unlike a certain other mecha anime. I don't think Gai is dead. He'll likely die much later on in a Heroic Sacrifice. Kinda annoyed that the one guy in GHQ that could've been a decent guy turns out to fall into the classic Ends Justify the Means - Nuke Hax villian that the anime/manga medium loves so much. Hopefully it won't be that shallow though. Hopefully... [EDIT] Oh and I forgot to mention: Child soldiers - NOT COOL.

Shu should go for the girl with cat ears and Inori should learn more words than "Shu" "Shu" "Shuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu", "Shu ?" "Shu ! ". |
