First anime of the year!
I can't say this impressed me, but I can see the potential. I already like Fuji a lot, and I can kind of tell why Kawai is going to regret meeting her. She was trying to repress herself throughout most of the episode, and there is obviously a reason she was demoted. She seems like a textbook case of "looks can be deceiving". I too wonder if people can really get away with insulting police officers this easily in Japan. Then again, it's not like they don't get insulted over here. It's funny you should mention it feels like live-action because there is a live-action series of this. Apparently, it's really good, so I'm not sure why they're bothering with an anime adaptation to be honest. It doesn't add anything. Works the other way around, making a live-action of a manga that was already adapted into anime is pointless.

It's decent. I'll continue for now.
Its main hook for me is its relatively accurate depiction of public servants. There's not much gratitude to be had from the public or the media. But you can make a difference if you care enough to notice what most don't and to try and promote such thinking in others, which is what I appreciate about Fuji and that she genuinely wants to look out for Kawai. As well as the genuine venting moments - those are inevitable. If you're not listening to someone else vent and helping them get over it through that, you're not a public servant.

A little FYI/interesting things about the mangaka.
Miko Yasu worked in the prefectural police (can't find speific details where) and left the force after 10 years and made her debut as a mangaka in 2017. Reason why she wrote Police in a Pod was to show the "actual" realities of how it's like to be a police officer and the mundane things she/her fellow officers experienced. Kawai's groaning while working the koban beat is actually a reference to her actual career when she started (Yasu's first job is a koban beat). Yasu also did crime prevention activities. And the manga art (and why it looks the same in the anime)... Yasu worked with crime victims by doing sketches of persons of interest. That's where she got her artist experience. Yasu has read Attack on Titan and Saint Young Men.

Well I was already in middle of watching You're Under Arrest, this feels like a more realistic version than the goofiness that is YUA.
I enjoyed the first ep but I already know I'm in for a different kind of show; which I would consider a good thing in our boring world of remakes.

This here is for the manga. Let's try to keep manga stuff away from here. ---- This was the funniest thing I've seen with Fuji being a hypocrite. She doesn't want to be painted in a position like the child-friendly police posters.

The art reminds me of the Vandread/Gatekeepers era. (Edit: found it, it reminds me of Keiji Gotoh, Nadesico and stuff)
Novel plot line and nicely animated, but doesn't seem to fit my cup of tea. Dropping this.
