Ebichu

I guess I was pretty interested in how Ebichu was recieved in a cultural context. What time it aired, whether it was aimed at older women or men or both, how it was recieved, ect. I was also curious about the other two shows it aired/airs with. Anyone know what they are? Are they GAINAX too?

The whole Ai no Awa Awa Bubble Hour was done by Gainax. I forgot what one of the other two pieces are specifically, though...one is about an osaka gangstress (like street gang...think GTO) who turns office lady.

Well yeah.. I mean if you watched animempegs Ebichu you have seen CVME's as they just used ANimempegs scripts and "changed them a little" the head of cvme has admited all he did was use animempegs work. But then these are the same guys who used tv-nihons subs and the parody subs of PGSM and called the work their own.

You can trust our version to be original work ~

But, we won't be re-doing what AMPEG has already released.

Sounds great... but is there any particular reason you skipped 15-16?

Thank you. And I am very glad people can see the rest of this series with original work and not CVME's hack job.

OMG I've been waiting for this episode for a loooooooooong time, you guys rule. ^^

Spoiler for ep 17-18:

I'm just wondering what is kaisonachi real name? I'm kinda used to refer him as kaisonachi all the time. For a long time I tought that was his name, until you guys translate it as the useless bum.

I guess you could say in the context of the series his name is 'kaishonachi', but like 'goshujinchama' is Ebichu's master's name, it's not a given name like Tom and Jane. It's also like kaishonachi calling Ebichu 'rat' as it were her name.

I'm pretty sure someone asked this already, but anyone know why they skipped 15-16?

And why did Ebichu take so long to release episodes 17-18? Almost 2 years?

15-16 were released. You must have missed them. It takes long to release because no one felt like doing anymore.

This is not the place to do this - this thread is for discussing the show. Take this to the "Resharing Requests" Forum in the AnimeSuki & Technology Forum.

That's not the story as I remember it. It was more that an important person on the original team was no longer able to continue working on the show.

I moved that post into the correct forum.

Additionally I'm sure that everyone will be happy to hear that everyone can now download Ebichu 15-16 from The Kazoo Club Tracker. I just put it up on the tracker myself for everyone's enjoyment, courtesy of the Kazoo Club.

Here is the Ai no Awa Awa Bubble Hour's home in Japanese (english as well).

The entire block is apparently based on manga written by women, so I suppose that shifts the target demographic a bit.

Quote:
... from the site:
Manga by three female authors in an animated anthology, targeted at single women from high-school to Office Lady age

This series refutes the accepted wisdom that anime is for kids and hardcore fans, by creating anime for adult women. Anime on TV is currently aimed largely at hardcore male anime fans. This is Gainax's answer to that market domination--a program whose concept is women talking amongst themselves, about sex and other areas of life.
Anyway, despite it being targeted specifically at my opposite gender, I still immensely enjoy Ebichu. Keep up the good work, Seichi.

By the amount of crude humor in that show.... I would of throught that the author was a male for sure.....well I guess learn something new everyday.....

GAINAX is oversimplifying things here. Ebichu was serialized in a seinen magazine.
