Tokyo Ghoul:RE

Quote:
Mobile game publisher GameSamba posted a press release last month to announce a Tokyo Ghoul mobile game, and the announcement included a quotation from FUNimation Entertainment CEO and President Gen Fukunaga stating that a third Tokyo Ghoul anime season is "set for 2016."
So apparently, Tokyo Ghoul Season 3 may be coming sometimes in 2016

Edit: it's coming for 2018.

Official opening song is up!

Subbed and dubbed episode 1 is also out now too.

The OP song for this season imo is a big improvement compared to Tokyo Ghoul Root. (my favorite is still the very first season's though)

The episode didn't waste much time getting right into with character introductions. The familarity of the thrilling vibe also returns with this season. Felt like the episode is setting up for the rest of the season although I heard the series will be a 1-cour...

It's neat to see characters like Tooru, Sasaki, etc appear in this. I'm definitely feeling some of the psychology from this new series including parts wtih the action already.

Re story screwups, director Morita Shuhei subtly claimed in a recent Reddit AMA that higher-up interference was to blame for Root A's subpar execution, despite Ishida Sui encouraging the anime team to go anime-original for Root.

https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comme..._anime_series/

Here's the excerpt:

Q: A lot of people criticize your directing decisions for Tokyo Ghoul, if anything what do you think people do not understand when criticizing your decisions? In other words, what is your response to the criticism of not following the manga, etc.

A : In order to complete Tokyo Ghoul √A's aim of Kaneki joining Aogiri, we needed to make some changes. Ishida-sensei also urged me to change stuff and go a different route, which is where a lot of the anime came from. (Although) we had a massive bubble of ideas... it constantly felt like those ideas were being chipped away at by those above me (who didn't want our changes to affect the original manga lore).
I tried my best, and I honestly don't have any regrets given the movement space I was allowed.

Given the hierarchy of a production committee, the parties who'd have the most authority to override the changes would either be Pierrot executives, or Tokyo Ghoul's publishers.

It's almost always the higher ups isn't it?

Tokyo Ghoul will never have a good adaptation.

Well the OP is good at least.

a mediocre series, I do not understand all the excitement, from the beginning the studio did not take it seriously.

I think by now everyone knows that the rule of thumb when it comes to Tokyo Ghoul adaptions is to take the music and leave everything else. I can't imagine any manga readers have any hype or expectations going into this.

Not sure if I want to continue with this or not. Not a manga reader but I found that the anime really jumped shark when it started introducing loads and loads of characters out of nowhere and the plot became a heaping mess.
And this season looks like it's continuing that trend. Pretty much every character in that Lawful Ghoul group (including Kaneki) came across as lame and unlikeable and the fights have way too much derivative childish posturing.

And its been a while since I watched the last season so I've probably forgotten a fair few details. I doubt I'll wver understand what the hell is going on anymore. Maybe I'll give it one more episode but I think I've lost all interest in this franchise.

It doesn't help that this part of the series is the least interesting to me... :re becomes incredibly good later on... but this initial part is really boring.
