ok, after watching episode 1 i can say i think the series is looking quite good

i thought the subs should haev had a black border instead of just the shadow, makes it hard to read at some points

and, since Jim said he was from England, i thought you should have used english things, I.E. 'mum' instead of 'mom'

but whatever, it was good

Ok, first of all I am very happy that you chose this series as your first project. You must know that it was shown on German TV as well, long ago. I always wanted to watch this show in its entirety , and thanks to you I am finally able to do just that.

One thing though: try to stick to the original names of the characters from Stevenson's novel. "Dr. Ibushi" and "Mr. Torello(ni)" are the Japanese pronounciations, but the characters' actual names are Dr. Livesey and Mr. Trelawney.

Keep up the good work, that's all I have to say ^_~x if I wasn't swamped with projects already I'd gladly help since this series seems very interesting. I must say it's very courageous and innovative for you to pick up such an old series to sub, and it shows how much you must really love this show. And when a group loves a show then the fansub results are usually good; I'll be keeping an eye on you guys, and I wish you luck in the future of this project and any project you might pick up in the future!

Oh yeah, and using an outline on subs instead of a shadow is something you should look into, I think you'll be pleased with the results ^_^x

Thanks for the positive feedback.
I'm glad there's people out there who's enjoying the show as much as I am.
I'll definitely change the subtitles with a block border around them in future episodes and I'll really consider to use the original names of the characters.

I appreciate your comments

"Qiyamat", actually. Doomsday. Or more precisely, the "day of resurrection".

Thanks

Today I've added a black border around the subtitles of episodes 3 and 4.
I will send it to Ketsu-Kun tomorrow for uploading. It should be on Bittorrent hopefully in the next 2 weeks.

I'm also busy with the subtitling of Takarajima episode 5 at the moment and I await the script/translation of episode 6.

Once again, thanks for your support.

Thank you Captain for the show , it's very nice ... it was shown in arabic too, long time ago ( around 1995 ) .. and i liked it alot , but couldn't see the whole series ... so it'll be great to watch again.

I don't know where you heard this word ... it's actually an arabic word " Qiamah" and the plural is " qiyamat" and like what u said it means ( The day of resurrection ) ... which is a part of the many events in the Doomsday which happens in many days rathar than one day.

Ahoy!
Just to remind you all that I'm still alive.

There's been some trouble with Takarajima Episodes 3 + 4. I sent it to Ketsu-Kun for uploading, but the disc was corrupt.

I'm going to resend it tomorrow. Hopefully it will arrive quickly and if everything goes well, the next 2 eps will be up for download sometime next week.

Will keep you posted.

If i remember correctly you guys are located in South Africa and don't have a broadband connection so you send the episodes in cd's to europe in order to upload them from there right?...the fansub spirit still lives!...thank you again for giving us the chance to watch the series (re-watch in my case)...keep the good work!

because lots of people grab first episodes, to see if they like it, and then they'll only download it again if they like it...i guess

After reading this thread, I checked to see what you guys were downloading and discovered that neither of the bittorrent links on your site work. I'd like to watch the series you're doing, because I've never heard of it before.

I send the episodes to Ketsu-Kun from Nandayo.net via airmail. He uploads it for me on their BitTorrent server.

As Kyoji said. I think that is the most likely reason.

That is quite sad. Hopefully if the next 2 episodes are up, some people will seed the first 2 eps again.
At least a lot of people downloaded it.

Site(s) listed for example here.

I would be willing to seed them as I still have them on my hdd (just didn't have time to check them out yet), but as mentioned before the torrent links do not work. This explains why there aren't many people on them anymore.
