Sony killed Lik-Sang

http://www.lik-sang.com/news.php?artc=3901
If they move on to Play-Asia and YesAsia next, I'm never buying a Sony product again... seriously this time.</sarcasm>

Fact is more like Lik Sang did not move cleverly enough to beat the law.

I don't like Sony's tyranny, but that's no reason to say Sony isn't exercising their rights within the law fairly. The laws might be unfair, but that's another discussion topic entirely. People need to use their brains more.

Start writing letters to Sony and set up a petition if you really care. If not, boo hoo.

Apparently, quote from article:

Quote:
"Today is Sony Europe victory about PSP, tomorrow is Sony Europe’s ongoing pressure about PlayStation 3. With this precedent set, next week could already be the stage for complaints from Sony America about the same thing, or from other console manufacturers about other consoles to other regions, or even from any publisher about any specific software title to any country they don’t see fit. It’s the beginning of the end... of the World as we know it", stated Pascal Clarysse, formerly known as the Marketing Manager of Lik-Sang.com.
Oh jesus.

Oh God.

I loved Sony's consoles but their actions are beginning to sicken me.

sony and the owners of the DVD trademark have always been like this. most likely it is sony EU that is complaining of losing profits so they are preventing you from gettin g the console anywhere except through them. the sickening part is that they know they dont have enough supply at times.

Huh. I'm pretty certain Sony couldn't do that for North America. It's perfectly legal for individuals to buy import items and for stores to import limited amounts of import stock. I've seen similar cases over import Japanese model kits, toys, and DVDs.

It sounds pretty silly on the part of British law for Sony to even be able to win such a lawsuit. I have to agree with arias. This is really the sort of dirty business practices Nintendo used to pull.

Sony should have just sent them a warning.. maybe a fine would work out better, but shutting down the whole site - damn you Sony.

Ah well, i'll just have to stick with PlayAsia now.

Edit: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=69077

Looks like Sony didn't do it~

Well, the good news is that it seems Play-Asia may still be able to do shipping to the US. I was able to log into my account, and my account data is in English. The search function also still accepts English input.

Haven't tried actually ordering anything yet, but this is a good sign.

It's about time those criminals got shut down. They do illegal activities like tax fraud. Looks like karma is working fine.

Will you be fine getting the LE without the shirt? You're in luck, then.

http://www.himeyashop.com/product_in...oducts_id/5608

$125, which is $45 less than playasia and the only thing it doesn't have is the crappy-looking shirt. Lik-Sang shutting down is not going to affect my Bemani ordering since the only thing I got from there was 9th style. I SWEAR TO GOD THEY LOWERED THE PRICE AFTER IT CAME IN THE MAIL FOR ME. Seriously, when I ordered it, the cost was $70, and three days after getting it, it was lowered to $40. I think they did that on purpose.

Sony declined to comment directly on the case. However, a spokesperson did tell GI.biz: "The law is clear; grey importing PS2, PSP or PS3 into the EU, without the express permission of SCE is illegal. Therefore, we will utilise the full scope of the law to put a stop to any retailers who chose to do this."
Sony apparently doesn't plan on stopping at just Lik-Sang, so a lot of importers will probably stop shipping to Europe altogether if Sony continues to rattle its saber.

Looks like it's gonna suck to be a gamer in Europe
Thank god US has places like NCSX and Play-Asia, and there's nothing "illegal" about buying oversea products.

No, Sony's just *THAT* afraid of losing sales in the European market (of European-regioned products... not overall sales)

Sony's response to Lik-Sang shutting down.

"Lik-Sang did not contest this case (i.e. they did not turn up and therefore incurred no legal costs). We have been awarded substantial costs against Lik-Sang which have not been paid," the statement claims.

"We would therefore strongly deny that our actions have had anything to do with this website closing (we assume the legal entity is still trading), and would suggest that this release is sour grapes on behalf of Lik-Sang which is aimed to belittle Sony Computer Entertainment and the British judicial system that found against them."
