Finally read the 1st chapter.
So the serialization might expand the story on why Ishida did what he did and his experience throughout his childhood to the realization how much he hurt Shouko and the bullying he suffers after she left school. Hopefully the serialization might expand the other kids who might have regrets later in their lives over what they did. Also, i like Ishida older sister.

It's nice to know that there's a thread for this.
I wasn't too thrilled with the first chapter since it felt slow, but it did give our MC a backstory. Now, since I think that a backstory's worth hinges on how it is utilized within the story itself, I'm going to withhold judgment on it. But seriously, if this is just going to be a more drawn out version of the oneshot, this is going to be difficult for me. The original was painful enough to read. Going through it all again on a week-by-week is going to be excruciating. Part of me wants the story to lighten up, but part of me feels that doing so would undermine the social relevance of the story its trying to tell. At the very least, this serialization is a good chance to somehow humanize the rest of the class instead of just being there to persecute the main characters. I feel so conflicted about this.

I think that teacher infuriated me more than any of the students. I can understand children being fickle creatures, but a fully grown adult should be a better man than that.
I'm looking forward to their high school life. Hopefully we're past what the oneshot already covered now. |

Pretty cute story once it got past what the one shot covered, The male lead is starting to make friends again, and stop hating everybody for whatever reason he could. Female lead... cute, and I dunno since we don't know what she went through for those 5 years yet.
Still has lot to do before he can be forgiven for what he did though. |

Just read the serialization and OMG it was so AWESOME I couldn't believe I never heard of it! Those kids are such cruel creatures, and the teacher isn't much better for not coming to her aid even once. I've heard a lot about students in Japan getting bullied so much they had to commit suicide and this manga really did a great job delivering those feelings. This is just so much much much better than any other shounen I'm reading these days!

Totally following this series ... thanks very much for the updates!
General summary at the top of the thread reminds me a little bit of an anime movie I saw that dealt with the subject. Let's see ... what was that one? I think it was "Happy Birthday - Inochi Kagayaku Toki".

This manga reminds me of Onani Master Kurosawa in some way as the main character chooses to admit that he bullied Nishimiya and chooses to isolate himself when he enters high school for redemption. The beginning of the chapters were painful I can say it was such a realistic setting.
