I've made a blog post about the show, as a reply to the chorus of loathing.
The post includes a characters/seiyuus page with pics of each character and their seiyuu, and some background info on the seiyuus. All the girls are either doing their first anime or their first major role. I think they all do well. hanko...

That was an enjoyable first episode. Cute girls, no fourth wall, popular references, and a male lead who makes no secret of his plans for the harem route.
It's K! The face, the "What's wrong with being a pervert" attitude... it just fits.

one of the best lines of the episode
"he's a refreshing piece of shit" as well as the flat chest gag oh man the verbal jabs in this episode had me rolling in laughter

All those continuous infringement attempts were funny. And the male lead is funny. I love characters who are slightly insane and say outrageous things with a straight face.
The problem is that he was out of character most of the time. It's like they are all on the outside, looking in at the constant chain of gags. I hope the anime will have some immersive content of its own too, to solidify things. |

Judging by the first episode alone, it's pretty entertaining. The inconsistent art bugs me to a certain degree, and you can't help but worry about whether they're going to stay with the same jokes throughout the series, but I liked it and I'll probably watch 5 more episodes before actually making a decision. If all the latter episodes can still retain some of the comedy while going further than "people talking in a room while making references" then I'm OK.

I was going in not expecting much, but I left much more satisfied than I was expecting. A shame this show isn't getting that much praise, because I'm already getting some good Lucky Star vibes out of it, and I enjoyed this first episode about absolutely nothing much more than I did that of Lucky Star.
Ah well, I was told that this shows parodies things similar to how Hayate no Gotoku does, but two minutes in I can already see that Hayate's fourth wall was as large as the Great Wall of China compared to this show. At times the jokes and references seemed forced (specifically more near the begging), so I could help but cringe at times; however, the other half of the jokes flow well into what they're doing, and I like how they make nods to more modern things on top of the original reference (Dragonball and Evolution for one). I suppose it's good to have shows like these once every few years, because catching all the references i half the fun. As long as they don't re-use material, then I say that this might turn out to be quite an enjoyable ride. My one and only complaint was that Key's obsession with his harem was getting a bit annoying, but the heartwarming end really allowed me to respect his character, even for a bit. I just really hope they don't overblow Key's obsession every episode, but that seems to be the driving force for the series so I'm a tad worried. Best reference this week was the infamous "USO DA" followed by the "I believe the current fad is Umineko, not Higurashi line. I think we all need to compose a list of all the references and whatnot every week, because I'm pretty sure I only caught half of them... and some of them I'm not even so sure of because they look unintentional and I might be wrong.
