Ciel Phantomhive returns for his next big adventure...school life with Show Hayami !

New Black Butler OP! With very atmospheric, dark, eerie, and gothic vibes because something is definitely afoot at prestigious Weston College .

Look at Ciel with food in his mouth late for school like he's a Japanese schoolgirl! He even makes a cute friend in McMillan and encounters the P4, Prefects who would not look out of place as a boyband and having all the archetypes down to pat as well as last names that coincidentally reference their House colors .

Nice to see Ciel getting a warm welcome from his House, as well as meeting his Dorm Master...a handsome dark-haired man named Michaelis who is totally a new character and doesn't at all resemble someone in Ciel's employ. He's just a hell of a dorm master !

Pretty suspicious that the Head Master is nowhere to be found and the prefects and the Lower Master are running the school...also Johann, the Lower Master, is a total klutz and I'm afraid for his health .

Though it seems like Ciel isn't just investigating the Head Master but also trying to figure out what happened to Derrick Arden, who got transferred to the Violet Wolf House and no one has heard from him since...and his best shot at an answer is getting in with the Prefects and meeting the Head Master .

This isn't like the circus! Now Ciel will just make Sebastian do all the work and clean-up for him .

Violet House has all the makings of a horror movie setting, complete with a cult-like aura and throwing stones at people. Also that one obvious delinquent guy .

So they're investigating the school because Derrick Arden is the son of one of Queen Victoria's cousins...so of course she's sending her Watch Dog to investigate, which puts Ciel and Sebastian on the case .

What an overdramatic lead up to the one line everyone was waiting for..."Yes, My Lord."

Would it really be Black Butler without a SiD theme? With a very stylistic ED featuring Ciel and Sebastian prowling Weston College and their story linked with the prefects, as well as Sebastian holding Ciel tight in the sky .

This environment is so twisted and horrifying in real life that Toboso hardly needs to embellish. Also, it’s hard to overstate just how good Sakamoto Maaya is in this series. I mean she is generally, but she’s just so great as Ciel,

The animation is amazing! I have never seen this amount of detail to character designs since The Case Study of Vanitas. Guess both manga share shojo-like aesthetics despite their actual demography.

But how is this season 2? I mean the anime had two alternative endings as then they started adapting some arcs from the manga.

It's busy work being a butler AND a House Master, especially when you have to fulfill your obligations to the latter while still also doing all the work expected of the former...like doing all of Ciel's drudge-work so he can take the credit and get in Crawford's good graces. But I guess that's expected of any Phantomhive Butler .

The P4 have a swanky gazebo they hang out in alongside their drudges, and they already have an interest in Ciel, especially with all the inexplicable factors surrounding him. But is he ready for a shot at joining the P4 ?

Oh hey, Edward! Lizzie's brother and Ciel's cousin and future brother-in-law! He went from being really hostile towards Ciel in Book of Atlantic to praising and respecting him! He's even advocating for him !

But I guess you should never 100% trust a femboy because Maurice Cole ends up tricking Ciel and making him show up late to a meeting with the P4, breaking Edward's faith in him and making the P4 feel insulted. Even his class goes from idolizing him to turning on him. Bu I guess it couldn't be THAT easy to get close to the P4 .

Maurice is a liar and a cheat, manipulating people and stringing along younger students to do his work for him so he can take the credit and make them think he'll take them on as his drudges...when he has no intention of doing so. Though his biggest mistake was making an enemy of Ciel Phantomhive .

A demon holding a confessional with a student, will wonders never cease .

Ciel needs an in with the Scarlet Fox house, he needs someone there to keep better tabs on Maurice, and he needs someone with the influence and status who could just pop up into the school and immediately join the Scarlet Foxes...but who does Ciel know who could pull that off? Maybe a certain prince? And Prince Souma has now joined Weston College! I'm sure Agni isn't that far behind him !

It's nice of McMillan to go out of his way to hear Ciel's side of the story out and then resolve to clear his name out of the goodnes of his heart. You can tell Ciel never quite knows how to feel when someone treats him kindly or altruistically like that .

Speaking of sincere friendship though, we've got the return of Prince Soma! By himself (sorry Agni)! And by CG elephant! Though Ciel should've known better than to think he could have Soma come around and Soma won't act like the best pal he knows they are (in his head). Even has his elephant grab Ciel so they can travel together !

But Soma's real mission is to get in with Cole and ascertain the truth about him...and Soma is as subtle as a sledgehammer in the process of doing so, mostly just annoying and pestering him. Just like he does with Ciel! Though I guess Soma works in mysterious ways when an elephant ride destroys Cole's room and they end up roomies and Soma discovers the truth .

Ciel has Cole's number and all the evidence of his crimes! Evidence he made Sebastian sort through rubbish and painstakingly put together by hand, but still! Though it would probably be too much to expect Cole to willingly turn himself in, but he drops the mask and is about to violate Cole with his thugs in retaliation !

But Ciel had out-played Cole from the start, creating a sound system straight to the P4's gazebo so they could hear everything and come in for a rescue...and Cole would have to grapple with the worst outcome: Redmond washing his hands of him. And as to add insult to injury, embarrassing photos of him doing makeup are now spread all across campus. He never should have picked a fight with Ciel Phantomhive .

So Ciel won, regained Edward's respect, and got in good with the P4...and is finally a drudge. Now the real work begins .

They animated the same elephant in two forms XD. I really have no idea what's going on with the guy's head but it sure made the episode fun.

Ciel is now a drudge's drudge and a big man on campus! But it's all in the service of his investigation into the whereabouts of one Derrick Arden .

Good to know the P4 are close enough to get into silly nonsense in their gazebo like making one of them do a silly pose to sketch them...only to never sketch them...and talk about girl problems (familial and otherwise) .

Sounds like we'll be seeing some old friends, particularly Lizzie, during the most classic of British pasttimes...cricket !

I'm glad Harcourt gets to be Redman's page. He seems like a nice guy .

Ciel finally bites the bullet and mentions Derrick and the entire P4 react to it...so something is definitely up. They all have high praise for Derrick, characterizing him as a very cultured individual, but have nothing more to say about his transfer or lack of presence. In fact the only real answers Ciel can get involve the headmaster whose rule is unquestioned at the school

Something is up with Violet House if students keep mysteriously disappearing and transfer over to that dorm, even if it is the one for eccentrics .

Figures Edward would clue in to what Ciel is REALLY doing there because he's the only one who knows what Ciel really is .

I guess nothing wrong with a little arson during investigation work .
