Official announcement (in Japanese):
https://webnewtype.com/news/article/153944/ What we had until now was an unofficial leak due to the covers for the latest novel and manga volumes being shown before release and those mentioned an anime version in the works. The announcement above doesn't really come with any new info that I can see but I thought I'd mention it for completeness sake. I also found this: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/new...e-expo/.133934 Which mentions that Joutarou Ishigami will be the producer: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/enc....php?id=117408 |

So I'm a Spider, So What? Creator Okina Baba and Illustrator
Tsukasa Kiryu: "Regarding the anime, Baba was involved heavily with the script and scenario writing and Kiryu would provide advice on adapting the character designs. When the anime was confirmed, they were ecstatic, but Baba was afraid if his work was really suitable for an adaptation. Kiryu on the other hand was so excited she ran around the house, and then quickly wondered how the anime would proceed with the lack of humans in the beginning of the story. Unfortunately, due to social distancing measures, Baba wasn't able to attend any recording sessions, however he was able to listen remotely. Of course, he thought Aoi Yūki's voice acting as Kumoko was incredibly cute and fans should look forward to it. There are so many scenes in the novel to adapt that are beloved by both Baba and Kiryu that they couldn't name one that they absolutely wanted to see in the anime." Naturally, I can't give spoilers and I wouldn't expect you're asking for them either. However, I'll just say that the original author is the deep planner type - there's answers to just about everything... eventually. |

The CGI is going to take me some time to get used to, but still watchable.
On the other hand, Kumoko's personality was really fun to watch imo. Even as a spider, she shows a lot of human personality and have to adapt with her new lifestyle. Other characters like Ooshima also adds some ligiht entertainment but I think they will be overshadowed by Kumoko, still might be worth to keep an eye on. It's hard to judge this show yet on the first episode altgoether but it has me entertained.

Hm, not sure how to feel about it because this is like two timelines mixed together, like when she was born the others should still be babies, right? Instead we see her "present" and then jump to the future where the rest of her classmates live mostly as princes and nobles while she eats shit in the dungeon.
I hoped it would keep the focus on our spider girl like in the manga/novel but it seems that would have been too boring so they showed the regular humans right from the start. Sensei became a cute.^^

Kumoko is going to make this too much fun honestly. "Oh Jesus" and "oh, father desu ka?" Were just little early highlights.
I don't mind the approach to the episode. Cutting away to the other students even if it requires a bit of a time skip helps establish the situation more fully. At least we're getting an idea of where some of the students are right now and how they are handling their situations. Good focus on Kumoko anyways and how she managed to get this far. Honestly her early days were pretty darn brutal and not easily survived in the slightest. Almost killed off by her first captured prey as well. Not ideal situations, but she's got the will to survive.
