Announced for the DS, Devil Survivor 2 is the sequel to the acclaimed Devil Survivor.

So far the only thing revealed:

Suddenly, mysterious invaders called the Septentrion arrive in Japan and begin attacking the country on a Sunday. To fight back, the heroes in Devil Survivor 2 signed a pact with the devil to become the 13 devil messengers. The Septentrion show up at least once a day and you have a time limit of seven days to defeat them.

The protagonist (center) is a third year high school student from a metropolitan area. He got involved with the devil messenger group by accident while returning from a mock exam session. When he awoke he became one of the devil messengers. Io (right) is a classmate at the protagonist’s school. As an honors student, Io has brains and beauty. She’s said to be the dream girl for many young men. Daichi (left) is also from the protagonist’s school and he’s a childhood friend. He’s a deep thinker even though he has a habit of making light of the harsh situation.

Devil Survivor 2, much like Devi Survivor before it, uses a strategy RPG meets command battle system. Demon auctions, a place where you can bid for new allies, return as well. There’s a new destiny system that involves the protagonist’s choices and other characters.

The number 2 in the title should means that it has connection with Devil Survivor in DS, right? I wonder what happened with our protagonist in the original series, or which ending that this game will based on.

Bokurano's Mohiro Kitou is doing the designs for the Septentrion invaders and Keji Ito is on sound. Ito did the music on the SaGa games, didn't he?

EDIT: Also, looking it up in the dictionary, "septentrion" apparently is an archaic English word for "northern regions," but the word itself comes from the Latin septentriones, which literally means "seven ploughing oxen" i.e. the Ursa Major constellation. Add that to the whole 13 devil summoners thing and I'm guessing this time they're going for a Zodiac motif.

Zodiac ? Is there a legend or lore that can connect those with the demons in this game? I mean...something that can make it megami-tensei-like theme....I dunno much about stuffs like that

Eh, they'll probably just randomly patch things together. I mean seriously, this is the series where we had Asura state that he was formerly either Ahura Mazda, Ashera, and Vairocana, when Asura and those entities had no relation to each other whatsoever (and don't even get me started on things alignment-wise). If they do a Zodiac theme this time they'll find a way to patch all the different mythologies together. Heck, they did it in Devil Survivor 1. Unless you're going to tell me that Norse gods pranced around all the time in the Bible?

Overclocked is the Remake for the 3DS of the original game. Why are they releasing the sequel on the DS? Because they want to sell it to us later on the 3DS Atlus.

There will probably be a couple of Cameos of the original. Atlus does this a lot, see Persona 3 Who's who and P4 school trip. As for the ending, probably Gin's as its the most neutral. Atsuro could be too.

Was wondering when they were going to go with the Zodiac. Now to see if it is the eastern or western one. Both have 13 signs you see.

So seven days, seven stars from the ursa mayor (Alioth, Mizar (Jet Force Gemini flashbacks), Megrez, Dubhe, Merak, Phebda and Alkaid (.hack//G.U. flashback)).

Guess we have the names of the probable bosses at least.

E: Checking Famitsu Website, Days start earlier, one screen says 06:30 while the original started all days at 09:00 IIRC, you fight Dubhe in Roppongi Hills, where you fought Belzebul in the original.

This is cool. I don't plan to buy a 3DS soon, so I'm glad there are still good RPGs coming out for my DS Lite.

There are some screenshots here, nothing important, but Io and Daichi promise to be slightly more expressive than Yuzu and Atsuro at least. (-3-)

Also the new MC looks a lot like the last one, 'cept with a new hairstyle, yes.

Yeah, but dammit let me hope for a bit. Though it is kind of odd that they removed the little tabs on top of the portraits that labeled which were the source demons and which was the result.
