I guess this is what happen to ainz and nazarick if yggdrasil is an online social mmorpg like harvest moon instead of kill or be killed mmorpg

The art design put me off to be honest but i cant say no to comedy slice of life genre i guess, gonna watch this one too later

Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san

"Skeleton Bookstore Employee Honda") is a Japanese comedy manga series by Honda, serialized online via pixiv Comic website since August 2015. It has been collected in three tankōbon volumes by Media Factory. An anime television series adaptation by DLE started airing on October 8, 2018.

First episode is out. It's pretty entertaining. The whole anime has odd feel to it, reminded me a bit of Zetsubou Sensei with all the explaining to the people watching it. Not sure what to expect with this anime but it has my attention so far.

I guess they needed to get their BL/fujoshi quota out of the way. :P

But this does bring up something interesting. With anime and manga in general becoming more popular in the west I can imagine more and more western tourist showing up at Japanese book stores and novelty shops and I wonder what type of impact that's had.

Maybe they own the rights to the manga this anime is based on?

Man this series is funny. I've never worked in a bookstore but having done retail a lot of this is familiar. I also love how everyones name is based on their headgear

I worked at and managed bookstores for many years, and I was amazed that it seems as if the experience is so similar in Japan. It's like re-living the experience.

Decided to watch it.

Didn't see any obvious foreign visitors in my time in Japan acting like that though. But it's kinda nostalgic.

Watched the third episode.

Had to laugh at the choice of picking Berserk. I know that since my older bro (1st one) reads it.
I should ask him one of these days if he got tired of it. XD

Hang it there Bonda san, who is that BL author got censored?

Nice showing how censorship works and that golden kamuy reference.

Seriously that question? they're a bookstore not an editorial house, japan is a bad as other countries too.

Well the latest episode poked fun at the manga having a live-action adaptation.

(There's no TV drama version, but Honda was poking fun at the possibility).

Bookshops really are bookshops across the years and the hemispheres. I used to feel terrible guilt about returning books ("deathbed"), and I regularly wrestled with the problems of only certain books in a series being on the returns list.

I definitely think this hits home for many retail workers but yeah bookshops are bookshops no matter where you live and work.

And the new episode has Honda talk about the various manga publishers in Japan.
