Also, the standard army solider armor has to cost something, so the simple fact that they can afford to churn out so many sets of it suggests a lot. |

It's possible they actually did all that in the beginning, but after two years anyone left in the starter town probably isn't very well regarded, even by their own 'protectors'. Assuming we take that notion as the origins of the army / liberation front. Since the kids had arms / armor, it's likely that's exactly what they were doing... and apparently the protection racket crowd caught them in the act.

Shin Megami Tensei Imagine is a non PvP game unless you enter an arena, but if you are powerful enough, or have a few buds who are stronger then the people you are griefing then you can lock people out of some nice content. There was a recent event where the event only monsters gave really really good exp, and being in a party does not lower your exp (actually most of us have exp boost items for parties). So certain players would camp the spawn spots and one-shot the mobs and not add anyone to their party. They would drive people away with no noticeable benefit to themselves. Their behaviour isn't to do with being in a MMO or virtual world, it is to do with being human and humans always have a bunch of ijits which love to ruin other people's lives for {insert deity of choice} knows why. Asuna and Kirito already spoke how kids can play with a guardian. Not such a stretch that a school club got a chance to do some virtual MMO and supervisor was nice enough to go with them.

The tax is used to pay for the Army's equipments, rations, etc. But for the soldiers Kirito and Asuna met, that is just plain bully.
Spoiler for Army Org. Objective Spoiler:
Also, people who think you can't get hurt just because you're in a safe zone is wrong. You have seen firsthand - not as severe as actually described in the novel - how Asuna beat the crap out of the soldier without consequences. All it does a 'mild knockback effect' when you sword skill someone to the face. Now imagine that happen for a prolonged amount of time, let's say five minutes straight, where you just bounce all around the place as the torturer repeatedly beats you with sword skills. Even if you don't feel pain, just the dizziness is enough to scare a person's pants off. And what Asuna did was just an example how you can abuse the absolute safety within the Safe Zone. There are plenty of ways - each and everyone of them far more painful than being beaten physically - to toy with a person's heart without putting a scratch onto someone.

Two days and nine pages later...
SAO is back to "in this episode almost nothing happens" pacing. I mean, it ended and i didn't even notice (that could be considered a good thing because it means that i was sucked into the story, but, i really just ends) As i wrote before, after the honeymoon, the baby. What i don't get is, why if in the last ep they got really intimate, now Asuna is back to "don't look" and "i'm embarrased to embrace you in my sexy lingerie". It doesn't ring true. Unless last ep. nothing happened. Or the studio wants us to believe that nothing happened. Yeah, SURE. Finally, i think Kirito has a lot more money than Asuna, because she spends a lot in dresses. I mean, Kirito has 2 outfits, and asuna seems to have a lot. I'm sure it costs. Girl must learn how to save. In all, episode was good, but tooooo short. Extremely short.

Wouldn't be surprised if there was some stupid twist at the end to combat the freeloader problem --> i.e. because too many people are not trying hard enough, there's not enough high-level people at the end to beat the game, and as a result, the top players have to wait for the low-players to grind through the game to the top level. Durrrrrrrrp, get pwnt! edit: So what happens if there's a glitch where a boss on say level 82 = does not get hurt so is immortal? Which devs go in to fix this glitch? lawl

Ah yes. The ever present bane of public goods. But sadly as was shown a few eps ago its become a problem. But alas not everyone has the guts to lay their life on the line, even then the game economy needs to hum also. This kinda ties in to the discussion about The Army. Even though they might be despotic and such they still provide services to the other players by running the jails as someone mentioned a few posts back. So there hasn't been that much pressure on them I'd think to reform.
