This is not a genre I normally follow, so I'm not much of an expert in judging the show, but I enjoyed it. I liked the character design and the overall look. I found the story interesting and pretty well told. I find myself actually caring what happens to the main characters. And caring how Ibuki's ideas and feelings change. The introduction of so many characters took a while to get straight, but by the end of the episode I thought I got it. And one of the main characters is just appearing.
Maybe you guys know the genre and can see where this is all going, and don't care, but I'm still on board. I thought Inoue Marina was good as Ibuki. And I'm looking forward to Sawashiro Miyuki as the cat-eared dragon(?)-rider.

So I guess this is a rewrite on Red Dragon? Or will we still go through most of the story elements found in that TRPG?
She did a fine job as Yuta last season, so much that I had trouble assigning her voice to a new character in that introductory spinning scene.

Dunno, it didn't deliver as I'd have loved to do, with so many famous authors at the table. I need tow more episodes before calling it a keeper.

Sub's out, though apparently it's by a newbie. Some grammar/spelling mistakes but I appreciate his effort put into this. Turned out better than all those negative comments are suggesting. Quite chuuni indeed which drags it down a bit, but overall not the worst thing in the world. I just hope the writer doesn't change things too much because this ep1 seems like to be going for an usual trope that has been done to death too many times.
The music is still awesome however. I certainly hope so. Though I haven't get to watch more than 1 episode since I figure I won't understand anything without subs. Then again the title for the volumes aren't exactly reassuring.

Feels like this is based off a videogame.
I liked the 1st episode though. man, loli childhood friends seem to be in season this year. They all keep getting killed. The different characters interest me though, and wonder how many will be killed, or if the 1st episode was just a way to hype the stakes and no major character killing will actually occur.

Confused by the amount of hate.
Might have spoiled a few elements here and there but i really cant talk about it without discussing what went on Now on to my thoughts. Not the strongest episode of the season but it was still a good episode. We have some good back story on whats going on without giving an info dump. Im glad to see the MC is human, meaning that he is aware of the situation yet he still wants to maintain some sort of peace. The scenes leading up to the fight were nicely done as well. Everything seemed to have fallen in place for that exact scene to happen. From the moment Fugaku arrived and gave him the sword i knew something big was going to happen. The dragon was actually not that bad i thought the cg would kill the entire mood but they seem to have it blend in fine. Really wasn't expecting that much gore and what happened in the end, shocked me. I like a show that is willing to have the balls to kill off characters. Now for the art and animation. Personally i love almost everything silver link has produced it has been top notch. Surprisingly ppl are saying this has ufo elements for this but i havent heard ppl say that with fate/khalid which probably has a much higher budget and better art and animation. Either way im not going to compare since im watching this as a stand alone. This anime alone has good art and animation but I guess the character design could get some getting used to. That fight in the end with the MC was fucking lit. And that ost was just the topping on the cake. The pacing seemed fine for me. Seeing a lot of different anime has made me accustomed to most styles of pacing. So too fast or too slow doesnt really affect me much anymore. However this pacing seemed to be on the fast side but nothing felt forced. Most of the events seem to flow in and out each other naturally. While it does have the nice production value and staff of Sliver Link it really didnt feel like a Silver Link series based on the writing or style. Well that can be attributed to the director not being Shin Oonuma. Actually this director was the one that did Imawa no Kuni no Alice. Anyways the first episode as i said wasnt the strongest start but I feel like its the type of anime that takes a couple episodes to really build up. Im not disappointed but i expected something more. Still a solid 7/10 start i enjoyed it. |

Hmm.....
Well that was tragic regarding what happened to Mashiro. I think the first episode and premise establishes a pretty serious story with the war and political conflicts between the three nations. As far as the Red Dragon goes, I hope we learn about it more. Losing a friend is never easy so the price Ibiki paid better be worth it. Visual quality is good for the series along with the soundtrack. However, the storytelling seems to be a hit or miss for me so far.

Nothing great, but nothing awful either. Aside from the less-than-good artstyle and the even-worse CG dragon, and a moment that made me roll my eyes (The "Aw, the MC's friend died after 15 minutes, FEEL SORRY FOR HIM!!") I enjoyed it and am interested in the world itself more than the characters. That blonde dude mentioned a Black Dragon and it seems there are 7 total, so yay, I love a shit ton of dragons in my fiction.

Ep 01
Well, I thought overall it was okay - lots going on and a lot thrown at us all at once, which is fine, I guess. I kinda like the various elements I have seen thus far, but whether or no it will be able to work as an engaging story is another matter. Will give the next few eps a try at least.
