I'm glad animesuki is doing well. I've been sticking with the forums. Nothing like posting after a long day. We might not agree on everything from time to time, but I think overall the community in animesuki is great. I just hope that animesuki doesn't get shut down. I've been reading alot on copy-right infringement and I came across an article a while ago that mentioned animesuki. I personally don't see an infringement issues by listing various animes...if anything it makes it easier for the industry to look for copy-right infringement..

@Aphra: Ah so overlooked are we...
Animesuki's current alexa rank is 33,483. A lot lower then when this thread was started (3,000ish). According to google trends, it's definitely decreased. |

And that's quite the decrease there. I hope it doesn't mean that AnimeSuki isn't as popular as it once was, because it still seems.. popular (in a good way). |

The number of people who actively use animesuki is limited by the fact it's a forum, and so as the numbers grow larger, people are more driven to leave as it's less "personable". In this way, Animesuki has perhaps come to an equilibrium at it's current membership, and has remained that way over the last few years. However, the size of the internet population (and number of websites) has hugely increased during the same period, so because animesuki's size has meanwhile not significantly differed, it's rank has dropped. The trend for anime, over the same period is even, might I add. Not up or down. So anime has held onto it's niche. It's interesting to compare many sites, animesuki's decline corresponds to a decline that can also be seen with animenewsnetwork and animenfo. Though myanimelist is growing. |

There's also the fact that the United States supposedly has a third of AnimeSuk's users. Anime was still pretty commercial in America back when the first statistics were taken and now it's practically dead. I'm not surprised at the trend drop.
As for MAL...I always pinned it down for the fandom's version of Facebook for whatever reason.

One and a half million?!
Hmm ... it's kinda interesting to me that after the US and Japan the third country is Mexico. I have some some users from Mexico in here, but somehow did not associate anime with being popular in that country. Learn something new every day.

To be totally honest, there are faster ways to get my anime these days. But Animesuki still supplied the best moderated board to get information as well as having access to confirmations to rumours and getting magazines translated. I am here because it is a calm and controlled environment where people aren't insane.

Finland surely has a bit weird position considering that we have only about 5,4 million people here. Singapore is about same with population, but they are asians which usually have more tendency for anime anyway.

Nowadays I ddl most of the time (the megaupload fiasco jut prevented them from becoming the dominant site for ddl and I know they will be back anyway), the forum is the only reason I access this site. It is also expected that streaming is taking a chunk of the casual viewers.
