Latest from my Operation Knightfall/ wingsuit land castle assault fic.

It will take place on the Landing Castle near Prague, shortly after the fall of the Saazbaum Landing Castle (AKA episode 12), so the UE will have internal schematics for the Landing Castle.

Now, some ideas for characters:

Name: Lt. Colonel John "Mad Jack" Price, Special Air Service
Nationality: UK
Short Summary: A veteran British SAS officer known for both his eccentricity and his skill in combat. Saw action during the 1999 First Vers-Earth War during combat on the moon, and managed to knock out a Martian Kat using ambush tactics and multiple L72 LAW rocket-armed infantry, by luring the Kat into the Rima Hadley, a canyon near the landing site of Apollo 15 (a real feature, BTW), and then firing down on it with LAW rockets from both sides. The Kat's plasma blades could not deflect the volume of multi-directional rocket fire, and was destroyed. Later, he became one of the relatively few Terran troops to escape back to Earth after the destruction of the Hyper Gate.

In addition to being a master tactician and a crack shot, he is an expert close-combatant, having mastered both the combative techniques of Fairburn and Sykes, an the Isreali martial art of Krav Maga. In addition to more conventional close combat techniques, in his spare time, Jack also practices fencing with a Scottish broadsword or claybeg, and always carries it into battle, insisting that an officer who goes into battle without his sword is not properly armed.

Trivia:Named for, and based on Captain John Price of the Call of Duty series, and as well as real-life British WWII-era commando "Mad Jack" Churchill, who actually did carry a broadsword and longbow into battle.

Name:Count Rodansky (formerly Soviet cosmonaut Col. Fyodor Rodanky)
Nationality: Vers Empire, formerly Soviet, Polish/Russian ancestry.
Bio: Fyodor Rodansky was born in the early 1950s to a Russian mother and Polish father in the former Soviet Union. Beginning in his teenage years, he showed an intense interest in military history, and joined the Red Air Force and quickly rose in rank, his tactical and piloting skill allowing him to overcome any prejudice due to his mixed ancestry. While he was an expert fighter pilot, the keenest area of his military historical interest was that of Eastern-European cavalry from the 1000s to the 1800s.

After the Hyper Gate was discovered on the Moon, American astronaut and scientist Raymond Verisian became the first person to land on Mars, and shortly afterwards, found Aldnoah and founded the Vers Empire, changing his name to Rayvers Vers Raygalia, a "pseudo-Germano-Latin" name based on his English name, created by Rayvers as a suitable imperial title.

Rodansky was part of a rival Soviet mission to Mars in the 1970s, which marked the first contact between the USSR and the Vers Empire. Seeing the Vers Empire as essentially a modern version of the historical period that so fascinated him, Rodansky defected to the Vers Empire and was knighted by Raygalia.

Given his obsession with medieval to 19th century Eastern European cavalry, it is fitting that Rodansky possesses a large collection of swords, ranging from 11th century Kievan Rus longswords to 19th century Polish szabla and Cossack shashka sabres, and regularly practices fencing. Rodansky's favorite blade is a custom-made szabla with a grip perfectly fitted to his hand. Rodansky's fencing obsession shaped his custom Kataphrakt, Tantalus, equipped with a sabre-shaped energy blade and a kite shield equipped with a dimensional barrier. The Kat also has "wings" based on those of the Polish winged hussars, however, it is not capable of flight, though they do slightly extend the range of its jump jets. Instead, the two wings carry multiple missiles.

So I was rereading some of my favorite series when I came accross "Remembrances for a certain pilot"(To Aru Hikūshi e no Tsuioku) and "Crossbone Gundam - Steel Seven" and this idea came to mind.

Time never stops. And with the flow of time, things change.

Thanks to Queen Asseylum's efforts, the Great War - the fire of which was lit by her own father - comes to an end. But just because a war ended doesn't mean the flame of hatred and anger will subside. It took close to 25 years, but in the end, she managed to unite the people of Earth and Mars, merging the Earth Federation and the Vers Empire into one single existence.

But as loved as she was, there were still speculations and rumors. There are times during the War where she was unaccounted, times where people thought she was dead. Times that only those close to her knew about and refused to answer.

One day a writer accidentally stumbled upon a secret record. After five years of intense research, he wrote a book, and opened the doors to the early days of the War.

The contents followed young Asseylum, speaking of her escape from Shinawara, her travels aboard the Wadatsumi and the Deucalion, her supposed dead aboard Count Saazbaum's Landing Castle and her reemergence as the leader of a third party. Men who read it were draw in by the duels between Kataphrakts, while the tragic love story of the princess and the Earth captured the heart of women.

"There is no record of what happened to Inaho Kaizuka after the assault in Russia. Not even a death record, or even a mention in passing.

It's a bit shameful, but I can't even say if he died that day, or survived to the end of the war. No matter how many records, how many related people I chased down, I could never find out what happened to him.

Did a miracles occur and the two were able to meet again?

Or were they forever apart, torn by the cruelties of war?

I do not have every answer the reader desires.

That's why you'll have to decide what happened to them yourself.

As an author, it's not an ideal conclusion, but I pray that their story came to a happy end, and I hope every reader can do the same."

The title of the book is "Remembrances for a Certain Pilot."

The great Empress who carved her name deep into history, and the stoic pilot who vanished into the blank pages of the past.

It is a story of these two that takes place over one winter—a story of love and combat between steel giants.

Prologue: Surprise Attack

First Vers Empire-Earth War, 1999, Near the Rima Hadley, The Moon

Special Air Service Captain John “Mad Jack” Price drove a Desert Patrol Vehicle- essentially a dune buggy- modified for service on the lunar surface down the bottom of the Rima Hadley Lava channel, a roughly thousand-foot deep canyon on the lunar surface.

About 100 meters away was a massive humanoid machine armed with a pair of weapons that looked like “lightsabers” from Star Wars, and were capable of deflecting bullets with all the ease that the movie weapons they resembled deflected lasers.

The odd-looking war machine, or Kataphrakt, as intelligence called it, was apparently a weapon of the Vers Empire, a nation of Martian colonists, living on a partially terraformed planet accessed by the “Hyper Gate”, a portal between Mars and the Moon found by Apollo 17 in 1972. On the other side of the gate, they had found a mysterious alien technology, known as Aldnoah, which imprinted itself on the first person who touched it, an American astronaut named Raymond Versian

Apparently, for the next twenty years, Versian, or Rayvers Vers Regalia as he now called himself, had crowned himself emperor of a feudalistic state on Mars, armed with advanced technology, but few resources. Apparently he held the “peasants” of his empire in check by making them resent the wealth of Earth, and now, it had come to a head, the empire having declared all-out war all nations of Earth, who united into a coalition known as the UE or United Earth.

But the political specifics of this conflict mattered little to John at the moment. What matters was that he was being chased by a war machine powered by alien technology that had singlehandedly taken out two platoons of American Abrams tanks.

But John “Mad Jack” Price was not fleeing for his life. No, he had something far crazier in mind…. something so crazy it just might work…. The Kataphrakt had the distinct advantage when engaged by conventional forces attacking from one direction on an open field. But this was a narrow canyon, the SAS was no conventional force, and John had no intention of attacking from one direction.

John turned the wheel hard to the right as the DPV rounded a corner in the Rima Hadley known as The Elbow”, which, incidentally, was located near the site of Apollo 15.

As the Martian “Kat” rounded the corner of “The Elbow”, still about 100 meters behind John’s DPV, John spoke four words into the radio mouthpiece: “All squads, weapons free.”

At Price’s order, six squads of SAS troops lying in wait on the walls of the canyon took aim with L-72 LAW Light Anti-Tank Weapons and Carl Gustav Recoilless Rifles. The first two LAW rockets came from the two soldiers in front of Kat. The war machine raised its energy blades and intercepted the rockets, which detonated prematurely, the molten copper jet intended to penetrate the armor scattering into individual globules of copper, which bounced off the armor of the war machine.

No doubt the Vers knight or count or whatever noble title he held operating the machine thought he had found himself more easy prey. He learned just how wrong he was less than a second later, when several LAW rockets and recoilless rifle rounds impacted the rear of the war machine, uncovered by the two beam sabers.

The fireballs from the projectiles were very short lived, quickly expending the small amount of oxidizers in the rockets in the lack of a lunar atmosphere. It soon became clear, however that the rockets had done their work. A LAW rocket had struck the knee of the war machine, and brought the Kataphrakt to its knees, while further impact had immobilized the arms, and in once case, blown off one of the hands completely.

Price slammed on the brakes and did half turn, perhaps becoming the first person to do a half-donut on the Moon. Price climbed out of the driver’s seat of the DPV, and climbed up to the TOW missile launcher he had mounted instead of the usual machine gun.

John lined the sight on the launcher up on the stricken Vers mecha and squeezed the trigger. The anti-tank missile impacted the front of the war machine, along with several LAW rockets from multiple directions. One of the rockets must have hit the plasma stores for those “lightsabers”, because the machine exploded in a flash of blue “flame”- actually superheated gas.

When the plasma had dissipated, Price led about a dozen men to approach the remains of the war machine, Colt Canada C8 carbines in hand. Price, however, kept his carbine over his shoulder, and instead wielded a Scottish broadsword he carried with him everywhere.

Even in this day and age, Price maintained that “an officer without a sword is not properly equipped”. It eccentricities such as this, along with his recklessness- in spite of his tactical prowess- that earned Price the nickname “Mad Jack”.

In truth, he needn’t of approached with weapons raised, it was obvious from the size of the explosion that the operator was dead. Sure enough, when one of the men under his command found the hatch, they found the operator, a man wearing what looked like a very charred 18th century military uniform, presumably killed by the plasma leak.

“No life signs”, the man said, “He’s dead”.


“I read you”, “Jack” Price replied, “Now clear off there, and someone get a camera, I want a photo on top that “Kat”.

Several minutes later, Price was posing on top of the vanquished Vers Kataphrakt, with his sword raised high in air, acting as though he had personally cut down the machine with the blade.

Great start so far. I was a little surprised by how easily the Kat went down, given that the Argyre was able to tank 75mm shells in the show, but still nice. Keep on Keeping on.

Count Sharathon of the Vers Empire walked onto the bridge of his Landing Castle and looked around. “Status?” He asked.

“We have completed hypergate transmission.” The Helmsman said. “Now entering Lunar Orbit.”

“Very good.” Sharathon said. “Enact Encom.”

“Encom aye, Milord.” The Communications Officer said.

“Excellent.” Sharathon said. “Execute Special Order.”

“What do you mean?” The Tactical Officer said, whirling around in her seat. “What are you-”a z

The helmsman drew his sidearm and shot the Tactical Officer in the head. The Tactical Officer fell like a puppet with her strings cut, falling to the deck with a clatter.

“Attention all hands.” The Communications Officer said, speaking into his microphone. “Execute Special Order.”

Moments later, the sound of gunfire began to echo throughout the massive vessel.

“Quite a a task, switching all the ammo on the ship for trankers.” The helmsman muttered, looking down at the unconscious Tactical Officer sprawled out on the floor. She would wake up with a nasty headache, and perhaps a concussion, but no long-term illnesses.

“Indeed.” Sharathon said.

Several more minutes passed in scilence. Eventually, the sounds of gunfire began to die down, and the Tactical Officer leaned forward. “All stations, report.”

“Main Weapons is good.”

“Primary Reactor is clear.”

“Communications are good.”

“Nobody but us traitors in Engineering.”

Sharathon nodded. “Very Good. Helm, bring us around. All hands, brace for acceleration.”

The helmsman nodded, then pressed a series of commands on his interface. The Landing Castle shook as the main engine ignited, pushing it out of formation with the other Landing Castles of the Invasion force.

“Drop Emcom.” Sharathon said. No sooner had he said it than the face of Count Cruhteo appered on the main screen, a scowl on his face.

“Sharathon! What are you doing!” Cruhteo demanded, waving his cane. “Return to formation! Your Kataphrakts are key to taking the Hypergate!”

“I’m afraid I can’t do that, friend.” Sharathon said. “I’m afraid you must allow me and mine to secede peacefully.”

“You’re insane!” Cruhteo said. “You know that the Emperor will never allow that.”

Sharathon turned one of his attendants. “Prepare the Elysium for a sortie.” He turned to Cruhteo. “The emperor will allow me to leave, because he won’t have a choice.”

Cruhteo scoffed. “What do you mean? The Emperor can do what he likes.”

“He won’t have a choice, because I have planted a nuclear device somewhere in the Vers Royal palace. It is on a deadman trigger, and should I perish, or my Landing Castle be destroyed, the device will detonate.”

“You can’t expect us to believe that.” Cruhteo said. “Where would you have gotten a nuclear device?”

“Russia.” Sharathon said. “Disregarding that, if you attempt to stop me, I will sally in my Elysium to defend my subjects. Make your choice.”

Several moments passed in silence. Sharathon’s Landing Castle continued to accelerate away from the formation.

A window opened on main screen, displaying the face of Count Saazbaum. “I would let him go.” Saazbaum said. “We can’t be sure he’s bluffing about that atomic device. That’s a risk we can’t afford to take.”

Cruhteo grit his teeth. “I’m calling the Emperor. If he calls your bluff...”

“I welcome the challenge.” Sharathon said as he cut the communications channel.

The door to the bridge opened, and two men wearing Terran-style articulated assault armor and carrying rifles entered the room. They turned to Sharathon and saluted. “Orders, Milord?” One of the men asked.

Sharathon gestured to the unconscious Tactical Officer. “Take her to the brig.” He said. “What is the status of the Castle?”

“We have begun the process of apprehending the loyalists, sir-Milord.” The second man said. “A few of them have holed themselves up in Astrogation, but we’re prepared to dig them out on your orders.”

“Open a channel to Astrogation.” Sharathon said. “I want to speak with them before we waste men on an assault.”

“Aye, Milord.” The Communications Officer said, and pressed a series of buttons.

The Astrogation main chamber appeared onscreen. Several dozen panicked-looking men and women were visible in the room, several clutching pistols. Sharathon idly wondered how much live ammunition they had. It didn’t matter much, however, his soldiers were all assault-trained Marines, imported from Earth in preparation for this day, and their armor was practically immune to the small-caliber pistols used by most of Vers.

“Ladies and Gentlemen.” Sharathon said. “This castle has changed ownership. It is no longer under the command of Emperor Gilzeria of Vers. Rather, I am now your ultimate authority. Submit and return to your duties, and no more need to be harmed.”

“You’re crazy!” One of the leaders said. “How do you expect to fight the Empire without Aldnoah?”

“Allow me to worry about that.” Sharathon said. “Needless to say, I have a plan. If any of you are interested in joining me, I will welcome you with open arms.”

“You’re a traitor!” Another man said. “You betrayed the Empire, and you expect us to join you?”

“If any of you wish to leave your hole, I will allow you. You have one hour. After that, I will be forced to send in my soldiers. Tell me, are any of you trained in personal combat?”

Several of those present looked visibly uneasy at his words. “I don’t know.” One woman said. “Maybe we should-”

A gunshot rang out. The first man to have spoken had drawn his pistol and, in one smooth motion, shot the woman in the head. He hadn’t used tranker ammo, either. Several of those around him looked disturbed by the action, and one of them opened his mouth to speak. Sharathon turned away. “Cut the link. Order the strike teams to begin their assault. User tranker ammo. We can sort out the bad apples later.”

Count Sharathon sat in his quarters, staring at the wall. Of the twenty thousand men and women aboard the Landing Castle, sixteen thousand of them had sided with him. That left him with four thousand disloyal citizens on his hands, and he wasn’t sure what to do with them. He could space them all, but that was a morally repugnant solution, and one likely to cause problems down the road. He could load them on a shuttle and send them back to Vers, but that would waste a precious shuttlecraft he would badly need when he reached his destination.

He had requested that Vers send shuttles to collect the loyalists, but so far he had received no response. It had been hours since he had left lunar orbit, and so far no forces had taken off after him in pursuit.

His accommodations were spartan, just a small bed and a computer terminal. His Manservant kept his wardrobe, and he could do most of what he needed to do from the terminal.

Sharathon took a deep breath, then stood up and walked over to his computer. He logged in, entering several passwords and activating a small Aldnoah device to confirm his identity, then went to the communications suit and opened it. He selected a tight beam commlink, entered his recipient, confirmed that he was sane, and pressed execute.

“Langley? This is Phoenix. Come in, Langley.” Sharathon muttered. He counted the lightspeed delay under his breath.

“This is Langley, Phoenix. We read you five-by-five.” A CIA operator said. “We’ve kind of got our hands full with the situation on the moon. They’re kicking our asses! What do you need?”

“I have files I need to send-” The link fuzzed. “What going on?”

“Something... Moon... Hypergate...” The Langley Operator said, then the link cut out.

The door to his cabin opened, and the Executive Officer of the Landing Castle strode in, flanked by two Marine guards. “Freeze, traitor-” She froze, and odd expression of shock on her face. “Count! What is going on, Milord?”

“I could ask you the same thing.” Sharathon said mildly. “What are you doing here?”

“I was on the trail of a traitor, who was using the tight beam communicator to contact Earth. Clearly, I had the wrong terminal.” She laughed, clearly uneasy. “I mean, you would never-”

“It was me.” Sharathon said. “Guards, restrain Ms. Alaithia.”

The guards moved like quicksilver, grabbing the Executive Officer’s arms and twisting them behind her back.

“Wha- What’s going on?” The Landing Castle’s XO demanded. “What are you doing?”

“It’s no use.” Sharathon said. “They’re quite loyal, unlike me.”

“What do you mean?” Alaithia said, confusion creeping into her voice.

“I’m not loyal to the Vers Empire. I never was, in fact.” Sharathon said. “Though I suppose that should be obvious.”

“Then who are you loyal to?” Alaithia asked.

“Myself, I suppose.” Sharathon said. “And my people, certainly.”

“Then who were you talking to?” Alaithia demanded. “It would have to have been someone on Earth, in the Western Hemisphere, unless you were using a signal relay.”

“Do you trust me, Alaithia?” Sharathon asked.

His XO lowered her head. “Yes, damn me. I went along with your insane plot, didn’t I? Isn’t that enough?”

“Guards, release her.” Sharathon said. “When we reach our destination, I will tell you who I was speaking to.”

“And where are we going?” Alaithia asked, sounding genuinely curious.

Sharathon took a step back and pressed two keys on his control panel. A holographic image of an orange world appered, hanging in the center of the room.

“A place call Titan. Perhaps you’ve heard of it.”

“The moon of Saturn?” Alaithia said. “Why would we be going there?”

“In short?” Sharathon said. “Water. Titan has lots of it, unlike Vers. Its a cold place, though, but we have Aldnoah Drives to overcome that particular limitation.

“But why are we going there at all?” Alaithia asked. “I mean, if-”

“Because it’s what the Emperor would expect us to do.” Sharathon said. “He sees me as a traitor trying to steal the secrets of Aldnoah and establish my own state.”

“But if he expects it, why do it?”

“All warfare is based on deception.” Sharathon quoted. “If we show Gilzeria what he expects to see, he won’t see what is really going on.”

“Which is what, exactly?”

“That would be telling.” Sharathon said, smiling.

“Fine. But how do you even expect to get to Saturn in the first place? This is a Landing Castle. It was hardly designed for interplanetary travel.”

“I made some modifications.” Sharathon said. “I’ve added extra engines, enough to propel us at the one-hundredth of a gravity with which we presently accelerate. We have extra bioreactors, enough to feed the crew with a considerable margin of safety, extra stores of water and spare parts, extra vehicles, and extra Aldnoah Drives to power it all.”

“Right.” Alaithia muttered. “I know engineering. Hell, I was an engineer before all this started. You have to make tradeoffs for modifications like that. What were they?”

“Internal bracing, inertial dampening, exterior plating and field generators, that sort of thing.” Sharathon said. “None of which we really need.”

“But how do you expect to land on a plant without-” She paused for a moment. “I see. You’ve been planning this since long before you invited me into your little club, haven’t you.”

Sharathon nodded.

“You never intended to land on Earth.” Alaithia said. “I have no idea how you managed to hide that from the Emperor. Nor do you plan to land on titan. You want to keep the Castle mobile.”

“Exactly. We will establish a colony on TItan, while retaining the Castle for future use. In fact-”

The castle shuddered slightly beneath their feet. Alaithia looked down and raised an eyebrow.

“That would be the Mass Driver firing.”

“We have a Mass Diver?”

“Indeed.’ Sharathon said. “ Four of them. I had them installed on the petals under the predense of a needing a method for conducting orbital bombardments without conducting the orbital corrects necessary for a meteor bombardment. However, it is large enough to fire a loaded Sky Carrier.”

Alaithia sighed. “Which I assume we just did. What was it carrying?”

“An engine.”

“I know for a fact that you wouldn't just launch an engine off into space for no reason.” She closed her eyes for a second. “What do you want moved?”

“An asteroid.” Sharathon said. “M-type, rocky and metallic, mostly, with some ice. It is on a rather eccentric orbit, which takes it in the general direction of our new home. We’re tweaking its path slightly, putting it into orbit around Saturn.”

“You want to mine it?” Alaithia asked. “Why?”

“The Saturn system is low on heavy metals and such. This asteroid is rich in them, and will provide an excellent source of minerals.”

“Fair enough.” Alaithia said. “Any other surprises?”

“Like I said, that would be telling.”

Great start so far. I was a little surprised by how easily the Kat went down, given that the Argyre was able to tank 75mm shells in the show, but still nice. Keep on Keeping on.

From what I saw, most of that was it blocking or deflecting the shells with its beam sabers. Also, I had them aim for the weakest points- in the knee and arm joints. As for the other hits, not every one of them would have done significant damage, they just kept shooting with until they got lucky with and hit the plasma core.

Anybody here watch Gundam Build Fighters Try? I have this scenario where Seylum - after finally leaving her mansion (she was home tutored for a long time) - become fascinated with Gunpla Battling and drag her friend/bodyguard into it. Inaho was already part of the Gunpla club and since he's a junior, the senior saddled him with the other two.

I wonder what suits would fit the three. I can see Slaine going with Knight Gundam for its knight motif or something fast like most transformable MS, while Inaho usually use a suit with multiple weapon - like Strike Noir - or the Arios/Kyrios (). Not sure what Seylum would use though, since I don't want to reuse the Bearguy.

A random idea that has been floating around in my head for a while, more of a comedy/parody thing:

The Adventures of Inaho, Slaine, and Hentai!Asseylum

Basically an AU where all three of them survive and escape Saazbaum's landing castle and Asseylum gets either the best or the worst idea she ever has: the logical solution to this love triangle is try and get both of them into a three way!

Essentially a series of one shots with Seylum trying to get Slaine and Inaho to have a threesome with her...
