Try changing your aperture settings on your camera(increase your aperture), or focus on your foreground, then lock the AF (or just Manual Focus) OR use Macro setting if you have it.

Mind if you people comment on the actual model, not the photography?

How do you expect us to comment on the model when we cannot clearly see the actual model because of the poor photography?

Take some better pictures first; and when we can actually see the model clearly, we can comment. Honestly, the picture is blurry, lighting isn't great, and you want comments on the model that we can barely see? Realizing that when people are making comments about the photography over the model, there is an obvious problem that you need to solve. Take better pictures and people will stop commenting on the photography and comment about the model.

But in all honesty, not many people will be commenting on your model here. I recommend going to some gunpla model focused message boards if you want some true comments. www.hobbyfanatics.com is one such board focused on model building. But posting that same picture will get the same initial comments (to take better pictures)

Another update on the Z'Gok diorama...I darkened the RX' paint scheme and changed the red to a more 'desert' brown colour, and used a hand drill to creat minor scratches and indents, which I then painted over. I also used masking tape to frame the diorama, as the clay was starting to fray around the edges. I also used putty and some loose parts and make an 'animal skull', which I glued onto the RX' back. Then I wrapped him with chains. 'Cuz chains are awesome.

Here you see the 'animal skull' and the chains.

And here you can see the actual stuff I did.

I'm wondering if you will get better results with your photos if you take them from further back (or move your diorama back more); the Zaku model that's behind the diorama is in better focus, and IMHO, the lighting is better for it as well. The diorama is being washed out by the lighting and is also out of focus. Your camera's minimal focus distance might be greater than what you're using.

Without seeing any details, it's hard to comment on the diorama; I just see the mech standing in front of a blob of... something. The bottom photo is better, but is a bit too soft at the edges, IMHO.

My Bandai 1/144 HGUC GM Light Armour kit is almost at the last stage - just one more coat of painting for some of masking areas and I can move onto decaling and weathering...

Just in case I forgot to post here are some of WIP shots of this kit.

nicely done though one thing that bothers me is why would G-Gundam has the skull on its back. Also given it's size the animal where that skull came from must be bloody big one... -__-;;

Where do you buy those Tamiya supplies? I've looked all over and haven't found a place that sells them.

Online they're pretty common. Locally your best best it to check Tamiya's website for a local distributer and go from there. If there isn't one nearby, there should be at least one within the area of one state, and then shipping would be pretty low.

Nice, DJ. On an unrelated note, I need a bigger piece of paper to include the entire diorama...I'll figure that out later.

Can't you get the bigger paper from supplier?
The one I use is A3 paper I got from local news agency but specialist shops do carry varying sizes...

Cloth may be better than paper, esp. if the paper is glossy. I've caught bad angles before, and ended up with a reflection where I didn't want one. What you can also use is a piece of thin cloth and stretch it between the light source and your diorama (or model) to act like a diffuser.

If your backing is too small, you can also position your shots at a specific angle or direction, and moving your backing to match it; it's your diorama art, and unless you are going to put it into a contest, there isn't a reason why, IMHO, you must show everything.

The "after" shot looks much better. The RX-79 (G)'s headpiece needs some filing to remove the rough edges, but it's definitely not a showstopper. The horns look weird on it, I have to say, though. The RX-79 (G) is 18.2 meters, according to mahq.net, so that is one big... longhorn ox? Does Paul Bunyan know you took his ox (Babe)'s horns?

Shhhhhh...you're not supposed to say that. Pual Bunyan will be angry.

Yes, I know his head has a few problems, but thanks for putting them in such detail. I can make a proper checklist now. =D

Cannon finally complete and mounted on the RX.

And YES, I tend to leave at least one part to not do until I absolutely have to. Because it's such a drag...masking, spraying, painting, detailing...sanding, priming...In this case, it's the head and the leg that are on the blacklist.
