I was also impressed by Watanabe Akeno (Lizzy) in Blue Drop, where she gave her role strength and depth, it seemed to me.

I don't tend to watch eroge shows very often any more, but I'm hopeful this will at least be interesting. I like Mashimo's more pretentious girls-with-guns shows (didn't like El Cazador, it was too normal!) so I'll give this a shot.
I'm really only here to go: i) Hikaru Nanase music! and ii) Holy crap the OP is beautiful! It's called "Karma", and it's sung by KOKIA who specialises in weird trippy music. You can hear a clip of it at this Spanish language website from a radio broadcast. I can't wait to see what Mashimo and co. do with the animation on this. Here's an amv from the VN I thought was pretty good, as the music fits the theme of the novel + lyrics match what they are doing sometimes, but it's loaded with SPOILERS: Spoiler for VN spoilers:

... shame I haven't played the game, nor know anything about the OVA... I'm going crazy over the fact that you guys are putting the game stuff in spoilers that I want to click, but I'll stay away from them
so, knowing nothing about this at all, unlike most of you, I'm actually drawn to this because of BEETRAIN. Even if the story sucks overall, at least this means it's going to have beautiful music to it. And it also sounds like I don't have to worry about the biggest problem with their girls-with-guns series, something that was mentioned earlier- there's actually a male protagonist! (lack of one is what turns me off from Madlax, Noir and El Cazador)

I don't have high hopes for this (the VN itself turned into a trainwreck in the last arc, turning one of my favorite characters into an unlikable bitch over really stupid reasons and even contradicting its own logic at points, and basically hitting every cliche that I REALLY hoped it wouldn't), but I'll be watching regardless, simply because I like some of the characters and there's bound to be some awesome gunfights.

I am not too sure about awesome gunfights. Bee Train did not have a knack for animated dynamic action scenes well, they are too concerned with artsy visual of gunfights. It is not even Hollywood, it is approaching Bollyword in sheer absurdity.
Cat Shit One trailer has even better, grittier gunfight scenes than the rest of all Bee Train ones so far.
